A bit of success

Years in Spark and finally I have something to brag about......myself! Being a diabetic, it's almost impossible to loose weight. Being fat, lazy and having arthritis in my feet doesn't make it any easier. Well, I am still all of the above, but I have finally accomplished what I call a miracle. I have cut carbs drastically (from what I used to consume), was weighing or counting my protein, watching my sugar spikes and using my insulin as needed and pre-planning my meals. About two weeks ago, I actually lost 5 lbs. and continued to do the same the following week, with going off track for two of those days. Yep, gained back the 5 lbs. Discouraged....heck yes, so of course I went off again on Mother's Day. I got my head back on straight reminding myself that I always have excess water weight (esp. ankles swollen) and am back on track. Here is the good part, I just lost 2 of those 5 lbs. and got back the results of my labs. My A1C dropped from 8.2 to 7.2............an all time low. Hard work does pay off.
Unfortunately, labs are showing signs of kidney failure, which scares me to death. This is out of my control and is how my baby sister, age 40, died. I guess at age 69 (in 8 days), it's too little too late!
