Week Five of the 5% Summer Challenge

Monday, August 03, 2020

We are half way through the challenge! So far I’ve lost 5.5 pounds...half of my 5%! I will say, my commitment is faltering this go-round. For one, we’ve had a lot of family visiting this summer, and some birthday celebrations...mine included! So, aside for a couple of “allowed” days off, I think I’ve done fairly well. Our DD and her husband will be flying in from AZ this weekend, and staying w us for a week. Our 3 sons, and their wives will also come for part or all of their visit. So this weekend will really be a challenge!

This week, we are supposed to track not only our exercise minutes, but also our hours of sleep. The idea is that our bodies need sufficient sleep to function at its best. I struggle with this as I have chronic insomnia. I consider myself lucky if I get six hours/night! We are also supposed to stretch 10 min/day...which I love doing!

Today, we are patiently waiting for our friend, Isaias. He (she?) is supposed to arrive overnight, bringing torrential winds, rain, and sleeplessness (for me). We are hunkered in. The pups will be crated next to our chairs for their safety (in case of tornado or damaging wind). And hopefully, the power will stay on. For those of you in Isaias’ path, be safe!

You can always enlist those dear children to support your cause. After all you taught them to eat their veggies, right?

Be safe during this storm. emoticon

I live in South Florida and emoticon we still have rain. We prepared for a hurricane and it was just heavy rain. I hope Isaias weakens before he hits there.
Be safe and enjoy your beautiful family!
emoticon You are doing excellent! To lose weight in these stressful times is a emoticon emoticon heroic challenge and you are winning it!

PS We are in Central FL and did prepare for storm, but got lucky. Hope you do, too.

OHOO on the gone 5.5 lbs!! How about instead of eating the sweet stuff, you instead make it WAY more about the company you'll have? Eat the healthier things that are available? If you MUST have a piece of cake why not make it slither and eat it in teeny tiny bites? That's what I do. Plus if you have others there who will walk with you,,, that's a priceless time you all can have together and if their are any kids,, well it's AWESOME for them too!!
