My Journey With Cancer

Wednesday, August 19, 2020

5 years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Lobular Breast Cancer. 5 years ago in May I have been in remission. I did 4 treatments of chemo and 37 radiation treatments. I tried to stay as active with SP as I could.

I am a caregiver for my husband and that takes up a lot of my time. I am not complaining because he takes care of me too.

I had a test done a few weeks back. They kept my tumor and they took a slice of it and ran tests on it. The doctor said my results were very good. I am hoping that my test results show up on here when I post my blog.

I would appreciate any feed back from people who may know about these tests. I just pray that all keeps going as they have been. I know God is in control and I will accept his plan for me.

Hugs,
Sue Grannysue9

HI Sue!!! I remember all you went thru. You encouraged so MANY of us to NOT quit because you were not quitting. You hung in with the Dawggie team, we so much appreciated that. We'd of been sick of heart not knowing how you were doing.

Here's a search on the test means, and than the link is you can look for yourself

The Breast Cancer Index test returns two results:

The BCI Prognostic result estimates how likely the cancer is to come back 5 to 10 years after diagnosis (late recurrence). The result is given as a percentage. So a prognostic result of 2.2% means that you have a 2.2% risk of the cancer coming back 5 to 10 years after diagnosis.
The BCI Predictive result is reported as "yes" or "no." A yes result means you're likely to benefit from 5 more years of hormonal therapy. A no result means you're not likely to benefit from 5 more years of hormonal therapy.

In working with medical records, I saw a lot of these tests being run. Unfortunately I don't know more about them. Praying for good results.
