These Days...

Wednesday, August 19, 2020

"These Days", the Jackson Browne song has been stuck in my head the past week. Luckily, I do like the song but I'm feeling old with it constantly on replay in my head.

These days:

My house is clean enuf for company (unlike the previous 15 years!) except for DH's hoard of water taking space in the living room

I spend most of my time in the back yard

my patio view:

I have learned a lot about the Western Fence Lizard, they are none too bright. We have hundreds of teensy tiny young ones and less then 2 dozen adults. But the tiny ones lay in the sun and run thru the grass.
Adult on the fence where they like to hang out.
A baby, I am w/in 5 inches of him, the adults are 5-7 inches long, babies 1-2 inches.
And more babies as I am surprised how they don't run away

but these guys don't last as we have so many birds here and the little guys get carried away.

Cute! Reminds me of the baby squirrels getting carried away by crows. We don't have lizards here. newts are the closest thing. So they named the little critter after his favorite climbing place.
After reading how many microplastic particles are in most bottled water containers, I have gotten away from using them. Now I just use filtered water poured into reusable containers or jugs of distilled water.
We are fortunate not to have to worry about floods, earthquakes or hurricaines. Pretty stable weather here with the odd tornadoes passing though.

That must be nice to be able to sit there outside, in your comfy spot and not be bothered by bugs, like here in FL. The heat must not bother you? I heard it's been over a hundred degrees there. Although the lizards must be all around you. Don't they poop all over your chair, etc. They sure do here. I like the lizards, but not the frogs that are everywhere here.
Hey, we have bottled water collected too. For hurricane purposes. We may have one next week- ugh! Hope not!!!!!
Where's Roison your cat or is it your cat?
    Have a good Thursday! emoticon

I lived in Florida for 7 years. Our lizards were different but similar, and they were everywhere. By the way, I love Jackson Browne and now I have that song stuck in my head. emoticon emoticon

I remember the 1st time I saw 1 of those lizards on the back fence when I had to take the garbage out and I nearly freaked out!n emoticon ..My mother insisted he was more afraid of me then I was him but I highly doubt it LOL.....Now that I see them I do think they look rather cute and I don't think I would Have a meltdown if I saw one again! (A giant spider might be a different story though LOL)

I have a ton of those lizards in my area. I've seen the babies that are less than an inch long. Nice to see you here. I need to buy more bottled water. I think we are going to get a big one soon.
