I am happy to report that last week (week six) I ultimately lost the two pounds I had gained while family was visiting, plus an additional half pound! Whew!
This past week was week seven, and I was very focused. We were to exercise, do something that makes us happy, and eat at least one meal at a 20 minute pace. I am happy to report that I lost 2 pounds this past week! Whew!
I walked 2.5 miles almost every day. And I try to add a fitness video to my regimen 2-3 times/week. Several weeks ago, my resistance band broke. So I bought a new one. But guess what? I found a set that has 5 strengths! It’s very cool! It comes w 5 color coded bands, each a different weight. It also comes with 2 handles, 2 ankle straps, a door jamb stop, and a carrying bag. It also has illustrations on how to use them. I was used to using only one, so I was intrigued in the how/why you would use all these different bands.
So I found a video on YouTube with an instructor who used this. BAM! It is amazing! Nicole Pierce was her name, I believe, and she did a killer beginner’s video. First, you put the door jamb stop into the crack of the door and shut the door. This stabilizes the system while you pull on the bands during the workout. Then I attached 3 bands to the door stop. 1 of the bands was attached to my ankle for the leg workout, and 2 were attached to a handle for arm workout. She works one side at a time (arm first, then leg), 30 seconds each exercise. The switch to the other side was super easy. The first time I worked out, I did the routine just once, but after that, I did it all twice which took a total of 25 minutes.
The next day, I definitely feel it! Wow! It’s not a bad soreness, just achy. I welcome that feeling! It means my muscles are working! The beauty of the system is you can switch the bands around to increase or decrease the strength as you progress. This was money well spent! I found mine on Amazon, btw.
Yesterday, I used my ankle weights for a “real” workout. They have straps which allow me to use them around my ankles, or hold in my hands. Last night, I could really feel it in my shoulders! There is a difference between actual weights, and resistance bands, but I couldn’t tell you why. I just like to challenge myself in different ways. I digress.
This coming week is our final week of the Summer Challenge. I need to lose 1.25 this week to meet my 5% goal. Sounds easy, I know, but I don’t take anything for granted when it comes to weight loss. One never knows when your body decides Enough! And you hit the dreaded Plateau! So I’ll carry on...Sparking away the calories and torching my muscles!
Have a good week everyone! Spark on!
