Baking but staying on diet.

Tuesday, August 25, 2020

I've been trying to upload a picture of my cream puffs but it took quite a while to do it. Usually it is quicker. Meantime as you can see I did make them! After I posted it on Facebook I had to email the recipe to friends who were drooling at the bit.

Not much accomplished around the house due to my lack of vigor. This virus, the election issues, and weather and so much more make this the worst year I've ever experienced. I have had many major repair: my car, my sons car, trimmed trees, roof eave damage repair, fence repair, and now my stove needs TLC. I look into just getting a new one but I am not sure about the "glass" topped stoves and air convection ovens. It just seems so much more can go wrong with them with more devices and according to the handbooks, recipes will have to change due to the change in oven temperatures. So I might just look into getting mine repaired. If the cost to repair is less. I might do that instead. Worse I like to feel and touch products before I buy them. This virus is limiting that as well. Also so many stores that sell appliances are going out of business or just on line or too far away from me. Frustrating.

The good news is I have not gained weight.

OH those cream puffs look just like what my Grandma and I used to make together! Delicious.
As for this year, well, my only thought is 2020 will be used as a swear word in the future. **SIGH**

My mother's cream puffs used to look just like that. I have never attempted the recipe. She made miniatures and filled them with custard and topped them with chocolate. Delicious! She would make them for ladies' functions.

FYI: I had a glass-topped stove which cracked. It still worked, but of course, I hated the look. Cast iron pans will not work on them. I can tell you I was delighted when it was time for a new stove at this new house and I noticed the gas pipe extending from the wall.

The Cream Puff do look fantastic. And as far as the stove, well I have a glass top and I love that feature easier to clean, but has to be clean after every use, which is fine and you don't have to tear it all apart. But, I agree if you are use to the old one, and will be cheaper to fix, I would also tend to fix it. But you are the one that has to make it.

Your cream puffs look delicious! I would love your recipe. 😋🥰. Don’t be afraid of convection ovens. I redid my kitchen and bought one. You don’t have to use the convection. They have what you are used to using as well.
