National Happiness Happens Month

This is our assignment for the Aspire and Inspire sparkteam: August is National Happiness Happens Month! Happiness is a choice. Remember happiness does not mean you are problem free. That kind of life doesn’t exist. As the Stoics of Ancient Greece observed, happiness is all about the quality of your thoughts. Happiness is not a destination, but rather a life-long pursuit. Joy can be anywhere at any time. Don’t limit yourself to searching for pleasure. Enjoy everything and anything that makes you happy. Do you feel like you are a happy person? What are some things you do or can do to make your life happy or happier?

I think there are many things we can do to make our lives happier. I recently read a list by Gretchen Rubin which I thought was really good. These are her “8 tips for feeling happier during an unhappy time:
1. Remind yourself of reasons to be grateful.
2. Remember your body.
3. Do something fun.
4. Take action.
5. Look for meaning.
6. Connect with friends and family.
7. Make something better.
8. Act toward other people the way you wish they’d act toward you.”

I think those are all good tips. Here are a few more things I thought of:
1. Spend time outdoors.
2. Pray or meditate.
3. Enjoy some music.
4. Learn something new.
5. Have something to look forward to.

These are just some ideas on how to be happier. There are more out there!
