Week 8 of the 5% Summer Challenge
Tuesday, September 01, 2020
I am happy to report that I made my 5% goal, dropping an additional 11 pounds over the eight week period. I am especially proud of losing weight during this time because in years past, summer time is when I typically fall off the wagon and regain weight. The challenge kept me focused, challenged me to stick to my goals, and held me accountable for all my ups and downs during the eight weeks.
Week eight was particularly hard as we were tasked to cut an additional 100 calories from our daily caloric count. I read some articles on SP, and employed some tips I learned to cut out 100 calories. But I will say this back fired on me. I found myself hungry on the days that I cut out the calories. My average caloric intake is roughly 1100-1200/day, which seems to work for me right now given my current weight and activity level. Having said that, I learned from the exercise and I know that as my weight continues to fall, I will eventually have to reduce my daily caloric intake. So I don’t think this exercise was a failure in the grand scheme of things.
The Summer Challenge is over now, and I took the weekend off. Enjoyed it too much, if you know what I mean!
The Fall Challenge will begin sometime in October, date to be announced. Enrollment is open if you are interested in joining. I look forward to it because it will keep me accountable during the holiday weeks!
Have a happy and healthy Tuesday everyone! Spark on!
