Where are you at today? Stress or Joy

Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Yesterday was a hard day.
Today is a good day.

The same blessings were available both days. Yesterday I just was so much in my head and focused on my situation that I did not access that which was available for me.

It is easier to be grateful for the good in life, when life actually is good. Yet, I know of many Christians who are grateful year round, regardless what is occurring. This is what we are called to do…but that is easier to say then to do.

During this time of change for us all, during this time of unrest, during this time of political divisiveness, we need a daily reminder to focus on the Lord and all His goodness.

Are you facing difficulties today?
Is your focus on the negative?
Can you be grateful for the works of the Lord?

Lamentations 3:22-23 New Living Translation
22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
23 Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.

James 1:2 New Living Translation
Faith and Endurance
2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.

I don’t normally ask for responses but today I would love to hear where you are at these days. Feel free to comment below.

Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate

I think we are both at the same place. I know I have daily stressors that can keep me from being focused and I am learning that if I don't do my morning prayers and turn the day to the Lord my day is sad and confusing. Then through the whole day I have to ask Him for help or I am just a mess. emoticon

I appreciate your blogs. They are encouraging and comforting. I've always loved those verses from Lamentations.

Stress and joy. I'm stressed out about the political environment in the US and the divisiveness. Not to mention the concerns about the Coronavirus and the economy. I find my opinion on these matters to be polar-opposite from a lot of people in the state where I live. It all seems quite clear to me and I find it difficult to see the other point of view sometimes. I get angry and frustrated and sometimes feel hopeless. But I'm trying to learn to be grateful at all times. In fact, the last couple of months, I've been praising God and asking Him to please help me praise Him in the bad or challenging times, as well. I feel great joy in remembering how much He has blessed me and my loved ones.

Stressful, but lots of gratitude. DH and I went to Mayo Clinic anticipating major neck surgery. That didn't happen. A thyroid problem was identified. So now we have to pursue that. And it is possible he will NOT need surgery. So we head back up to Mayo on Tuesday for an evaluation and more answers.

I am so very grateful that we have the option of going there (I trained there as a student nurse years ago.) I really respect the medicine practiced there. It is collaborative, so if an answer isn't know, that is clearly stated, but then collaborative efforts are made to try to get to the answer.

So, amidst the stress is joy that we are on the right path, we are being taken care of, and He is looking out for us.

The kids both have had stressful situations to deal with, but . . . both of their situations are getting sorted out. Again, I see His hand in that for sure!

    HUGS and blessings.

Life's been a real mixed bag for me these days - while I'm thrilled to have gotten away for the weekend to see the Ozark Trail again (happy/sad: happy to see it again, sad that I wasn't able to ride it myself), I return to many of the same challenges/problems:
    - ongoing issues of caretaking my mom
    - poor communication with Hubby
    - worrying about my son (while he's doing well, I worry about he & his roommate smoking MJ when it's still illegal here; all I need is for them to get arrested)
    - sick/injured/dying animals (my own as well as my patients: poor ol' Blue, Scarlett's injury)
