2020 Vision

Tuesday, October 06, 2020

I was looking back on my previous blogs and shaking my head. I am thick headed. How can I even explain how I made advances so many times and then just quit. No explanation...just shake my head. It is kind of nice to have the history to remind me how easy it is to lose sight of goals and let other things get in the way of progress.
I was doing so well, down to 171, then Hurricane Michael happened in 2018. Eight days of no power and everything thrown topsy turvey, I got off track...and stayed off track. Not an excuse. I should have listened to the little voice in me as I watched the scale inch upward. But I lost focus.
I retired from teaching school in June of 2019. Timely, I think, considering how COVID has affected the educational system. What a year 2020 has been. When you refer to 20/20 vision, it is someone who has perfect vision. Mine is not perfect, but I am seeing more clearly again. I had let myself get up to 206 and I finally determined it needed to stop. A couple of my siblings were working on losing weight. I knew I needed to do the same. I started tracking again and got to 204.
Again, my friend MawMaw was my helper. She told me about the 5% challenge this past summer. I joined. Having accountability and goals is good for me. There are so many challenges and teams people can join. I really appreciate that. I lost 9 of my 10 lb. goal. I stayed active with my team during the in-between time of summer and fall challenges. I am starting the fall challenge this week with a weight of 188. Goal is to lose 9 lbs. in 8 weeks.
I am glad I have renewed vision. I am glad for good team mates and good friends that encourage me. I hope I can be an encouragement to others.

WOW! that is great that you are doing so well. I have been a yo yo for many a year. Sometimes it just doesn't feel worth all the effort, but it is.

You have already been a source of encouragement for me - thanks for welcoming me to the team and reaching out. If you ever come visit your daughter in Acworth, I'd love to meet.

Well you are definitely back at the right time for me. Like you my life was turned upside down, moved from a very large house to a small one, Covid hit our life, and I shut down!
Because of your input in my life, I’ve gotten back up (10 pounds higher) and am back to working on my healthy lifestyle.

I lose focus whenever my daily routine changes. During the in-between challenge, we had covid-safe guests visit for only 2 days, but I completely stopped my exercise routines, and ate and drank as if the world were ending. I gained back 3 of the 6 pounds lost during the summer challenge. So, yes, you are encouraging me as well as others, I'm sure. emoticon emoticon

It is amazing how that happens. Been there, done that. The most important thing is you are back on track. Good work. Focus on that and move on. You got this.
