2020 You Might Win this Fight, But You're Gonna Know You Were in a Tussle!!

This Year, Oh my goodness, this YEAR!

Such high hopes in my heart!! For this year!!!

I claimed this year! I just knew this was the year, I'd be able to bring all of my experience, knowledge, supportive friends, not one, not two, but three gym memberships (one was free) together to make it happen. I even had my own personal trainer! Nothing could stop me!!

Well 2020 did! It stopped me dead in my tracks! Knocked out! Down for the Count!!

I won't go into everything that happened to me and my family, not to mention my friends, but to say that this year has been challenging in every way, there just don't seem to be enough words to describe the difficulties.

Don't get me wrong, I kept jabbin', I didn't ever give up entirely, but what the heck man?!

Now, there are just three months... only twelve weeks... until the New Year's Day.

It's so tempting, to just say, forget it! I've had enough! I deserve to just let go and stop trying. I mean, look at all the things I don't have any longer. No trainer. No gym. No workout buddies. No movie nights. No theatre. No writing retreats. No conferences. No dating. No hanging out with family. No church. No library. No restaurants. No bars. No get-togethers with friends.

Then I realized I was focusing on what I didn't have and not what I did have!

The most important tool of all during this journey is SparkPeople! Not only a great Nutrition Tracker and Exercise Tracker, but what a great support group! There are even trainers here that can be reached out to and are happy to help when you get stuck or need help or encouragement.

Now, I have refocused on the simple things. Eating healthier, getting exercise in whenever I can, whether it's body weight, free weights, bike riding or walking. That's all I need. And with a little help from my SparkPeople friends, I know I can be well on my way even before New Year's Day 2021!

I won't even have to think about making a New Year's Resolution about my fitness journey. I can use it for something else very special to me and something else that's been on the back burner way too long, my writing.

You are so right 2020 has been a bad year...Have high hopes for 2021, just have to keep the faith that we can get this virus under control. Thankfully I have not had any of my close family come down with it.

    Keep the faith

You are right - 2020 has been hard for all of us in so many ways. Still, it is encouraging to hear that you are not giving up and that you are still on Spark People, continuing your journey towards health and happiness after a few detours on that trip. I hope you are able to get through the end of this year on an upbeat note and prepare for an even better 2021.
