10/15/20 - Looking for some advice regarding bariatric surgery.

Thursday, October 15, 2020

Hello! It's been a while since I've been on here and obviously I've been naughty because I've gained a couple of pounds back since emoticon

Anyways I wanted to ask you guys, what do you guys think about the bariatric surgery? are you for it or against it? and why? I have found myself thinking about it more and more lately specially after a couple of episodes of my 600 pound life, that show is something else!

I've also been thinking about bariatric surgery because I've been feeling useless since I tore my knee ligament a few weeks ago and it has totally disrupted my normal life, I haven't been active at all, and I haven't been able to go to the market in weeks I've been relying on my husband to cook or on my kids to get take out.

So I kind of want to do something drastic, I feel like I've been on this roller coaster for way too long and I'm seriously thinking of taking the easy way out, well I don't know if surgery is the easy way out but it sure sounds like it right about now!

I'm yet to do some research about it that's why I just thought it would be a great idea to ask you guys specially if you are someone who has gotten the surgery or if you know someone who has I would really like to hear your input.

Honestly I don't even know if I'm a candidate for the surgery but just by doing the mat I'm assuming I am, I need to lose about 80 pounds to be at my ideal weight so I think that automatically qualifies me, but that's yet to be determined by an MD.

Any advice you guys have is welcome!

I'd take a serious stab at losing without first - tracking religiously and moving to healthier foods - and if you don't see results after a few weeks then go for it!

Obviously you need to see your doctor, but I personally wouldn't do it unless I felt I had no other options. It IS still surgery which always has complications, but it could also be the step you need to start in the right direction.

Hello there, glad to see you back. Sorry I don't know about this surgery. I hope some other sparkers will stop by to help. I do think it will be good to do your research and to check with your doctor and see what advice he would give you. Take care of yourself and I hope your knee feels better soon. Let us know what you decide. emoticon emoticon

    Hi,
I had never heard of that type of surgery..so I looked it up. A type of surgery that all others are under (like gastric bypass, etc. ? I wish I could tell you yes. or no, but I think that would be something between your Dr. and you. As I don't know know your former history, I would be willing to support you & just be here for you to just listen to. I can tell you are reaching out to others which I feel is a great sign.
Take care. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
