kitchen mishaps

Friday, October 16, 2020

Today makes one week since my kitchen remodel began. What was supposed to have been 3 days has turned into 7 and is looking like it might be several more!!!
The problem.....getting anyone to work!!!
The guy we hired to help Honey do the heavy lifting, cutting and carrying and such got another job and Honey being kind hearted told him to go ahead and do that job and come back when he was finished.
So what have we accomplished in a week?
Took out a leaking window, decided not to replace it but cover it, so we fixed that wall, put up siding outside and drywall inside and tore out the old sink, fixed the flooring and waterlines for the new sink.
Now.....yesterday Honey goes to the guys house to see if he wanted to work, because we have to remove the stove, put up more drywall, put the stove back, get the sink cabinet in place and attach it.....then the countertop, put the sink basin back in and waaaaa laaaaa, we will be done except for decorating the backsplash, etc which I can do later.
I just want my sink and functioning water back in my kitchen.
I have been carrying water to the kitchen from the laundry room and heating it on the stove for my dishes.....when we dont eat out of paper.
But, the guy had decided to have some drink after being paid by his 2nd job and told Honey give him one more day to recover from his party!!!!
So peed off!!!
Honey and I carried the countertop and cabinet and drywall and had everything ready to finish the job and now, worker hungover and it rains.
At this rate I might possibly have my kitchen put back together by Thanksgiving.
Which I dont plan to cook anyway but I just want to be able to run dish water and put my appliances back where they go.
NEVER and let me repeat NEVER diy especially when you have a helper who cant turn down a beer!!!
Thats all I have to say.
