Protein Shakes

Wednesday, November 25, 2020

So I have been having a breakfast shake -on and off for about 2 months- and while they have been boring, they are good and they are healthy and they are easy. Adding fruits and veggies are tricky, because I am eating Keto, and while bananas make for a thicker creamy shake, they add waaaay too many carbs for me, so im working with blueberries, blackberries and strabwerries. Turned myself purple one day last week when the lid popped open, but other than that, its just getting the consistency right with the blend times. Read a lot about the 310 shakes and how they were a huge benefit to a lot of people and was curious, so i sent off for the trial pack. good purchase for only $9 and also got a larger bag of the Salted Caramel, since caramel is my favorite flavor and everything was 50% off for Black Friday.
Shakes came early- im serious about getting healthy, so i started the next morning- Sunday- instead of the standard- "i will start on Monday" Im already eating healthy, so why wait? i can have a shake any time for for breakfast, its not a huge shift for me. So i jumped in.
Day 1- vanilla. just unsweetened almond milk and cottage cheese for today, so i can taste the real flavor. good. surprisingly good. not as overpowering as the vanilla in my own protein powder. i can see the how adding things would make the flavors pop in a complimentary way. added a tiny bit of sugar free cookie dough syrup and BAM! Day 1 is a success! Had to remind myself it was lunch time when I looked up from my computer and saw it was 1pm.
Day 2- Chocolate shake. i do not like chocolate. not really. its gotta be the really good smooth milk chocolate for me. i was hesitant, but went on- almond milk and cottage cheese. taste test- surprisingly good- subtle but not chalky as thought it would be. added a tsp of sugar free caramel fudge- OH MY WORD!!! THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE CHOCOLATE!!! if i could have frozen it right then i would have been having ice cream ll day! I can imagine adding fresh black cherries and having 2 a day! Day 2 - another success.
Day 3- Salted Caramel. Saved the best for last. my mouth was watering as i put this one together and waited for the mini blender to be done. taste test was disappointing. flavor is good but really subtle. like when you have a slight drop of caramel in your coffee. you kind of question yourself on if you can taste it or not. smooth, but needs a boost. added a tsp of sugar free birthday cake syrup and POW- it woke up the caramel and was awesome! another great day!

Now that I know the base flavors I am all ready to play!!

Day 4 (today) vanilla again- added 2 tbsp of blackberry cobbler peanut butter powder in place of the syrup- OH MY WORD! hands down- this is the best shake i have ever had! I can easily have this all day every day!

so in my personal opinion-its all about making the flavors work for you. i still have plenty of my vanilla protein powder left to use- but the 310 shakes offer me a bit of variety which i appreciate, and a little more punch now and again just makes them even better- and they are filling, satisfying, healthy and easy. if i am tired at the end of a hard day, i can see myself making a shake instead of nibbling something- 2 shakes a day is even better than 1, so now and again, i think i can managed to make that happen.

i have! been playing around with my recipes for my blends and if i add 1 cup it tastes like wet grass, but a half a cup stays in the background and is perfect!

have you tried a cup of spinach/kale mix instead of fruit in your shakes? Only 1 carb.
