New Year...New Outlook...welcome 2021!

Like many, I’m glad 2020 is behind us. We are not out of the woods yet, as far as this pandemic goes. In fact, we as a nation are on the brink of a health crisis like we’ve never witnessed. I have buckled down and resumed my quarantine habits we developed a year ago when it first started. I say this because this past summer I let my guard down a little...gathering w friends outside, going to restaurants, etc.
Then Nov hit and we started seeing a resurgence...as predicted. Like many, I was resentful bc I knew the only answer was to revert back to the quarantining measures we had slacked off from. I enjoyed eating out, seeing friends, shopping. Not that I had thrown caution to the wind...it’s just that numbers were down, the weather was nice, and we didn’t have to be so strict. So I sulked and fell off the wagon, spark people-wise. My motivation plummeted, I wasn’t tracking, wasn’t walking...esp when it got cold.
My pity party has stopped. I can’t control what is happening in the world...only my response to it. I have accepted reduced freedom, avoiding restaurants and crowds, small family gatherings...it’s just something we have to do now until I can receive the vaccine. Time to take care of me again.
I re-read my previous blog today, which outlines my goals for 2021. I stand by them with one exception. I know it’s not realistic for me to walk 2021 miles this year. That’s over 5+ miles/day, regardless of the weather. I mentioned this to a friend of mine and she was interested in participating. So we vowed to combine our efforts to reach 2021 miles this year. My friend mentioned it to another, and next thing you know, there are five of us on this team! How cool is that?! I am so excited about this! I already clocked 3 miles today! Woot!
May 2021 be a blessful one for you and your family! Spark On!
