just sayin’ … in the moment

A lesson learned this morning. As I was getting dressed for the day … I made the bed, fluffed the dog beds, put things in the room back where they belong, read text messages, picked up dirty socks and … hmmm, I finally finished getting dressed.

I need to take multi-tasking off my resume. How often have I not done justice to what I should be focusing on coz I have divided my attention???

Living in the moment.

That’s a goal this year for me.

Resolutions vs Goals:
Resolutions are statements of intention, while goals are statements of … commitment.

I’ve made several goals for the New Year.

BFF … believes what you do today … the first day of the New Year … is what you will do all the new year.

So my day so far:

I spent quality time with Hubby.
Got dressed.
Touched base with my loved ones ... my family members and my BFF.
Worked on our quilt.
Cooked with Hubby.

I’ll finish up the day with reading or listening to books/articles to broaden my knowledge or interest while being in the sunshine.

What are you doing today that you want to ensure you do the rest of 2021???

2021 is before us … to MAKE what we will of it.

    Think I just might have to steel that quote that you used emoticon So very true!

    I seem to get easily distracted also. Just like today, for example. I am doing a "time-line" study to see how I can make better use of my time. I have stopped and started what I was doing several times already today. Makes it very difficult to evaluate a "time-line" that is scattered all over the place.

    With that being said, I will continue to move forward, one step at a time, for the rest of the day until I have achieved what I need to in order to reach my goals.

    I AM COMMITTED! For now, at least.

    I spent my day practically on Spark, getting myself organised, writing my blog, making a weightloss chart, reading inspirational stories, looking for Spark friends as most of my have disappeared sadly....basically trying to get my mind focussed on what I want to achieve this year. A journey back to health is what I most want, so I need to get myself into that zone where I fixate on "the carrot" and work out how I'm going to get it, and that starts with a day like the 1st, and indeed yesterday, where I visualise and concentrate on what i want so that it's strong enough an image to block out the negativity and temptation, or self-doubt, when they invariably come along.

    You sound like you are getting off to a strong and positive start too. Here we goooo..... emoticon

    Hmm, yup I need to stop the multitasking. It sometimes looks like nothing gets done but it’s because some things don’t get completed.
    Seems I chose an appropriate word for the year “present”.. if I’m present on the task at hand I won’t wonder off to the next.

    My mind easily wanders. Focusing on the current task is very important. So much has happened, so much can happen, but living in the moment helps me feel better. I work on it daily.

    Sounds like it was a pleasant day.
    I start my day out with a bit of multi-tasking but with purpose, especially while my coffee is cooking!
    I view my walk from where I am to where I want to be and tidy little things along the way but keep my final objective in my grasp. Once it comes to self-care I am laser-focused on me. That's my time alone!

    I’m not sure why I like goals so much more than resolutions but I do.
    I think if I break a resolution I feel bad and quit but if it’s a goal I just get up and keep working at it.
    One of the most useful tips I ever learned (not sure where, just some random blog) her on SP was from a similarly afflicted Sparkie who had a problem completing a task as she flitted from task to task.
    This is it:
    when I feel my self drifting off in another direction I just (gently) say to myself ‘FINISH’ and redirect to finish one task before moving on to the next.
    Sounds so simple, yes?
    But it really was a revolutionary concept for me...and it works!
    Everything gets done, but in order, without the stress of the flitting about.

    Took Miss Lilly for a walk this morning. Great way to start the day. Did pay bills, THAT was not fun, but had to be done.

    Had a good breakfast together. THAT was nice.


    Will build on these through the New Year.

    Happy New Year to you! You've got 2021 off to a great start!! I applied the "2 hour rule" and worked with my DH to get four scheduled tasks done. Heavy lifting -- we have the functional fitness.

    Ate healthy, got outside, did some laundry, took Henry for a walk, and kicked back. .It felt good! .

    Living in the present moment is a focus for me in 2021.
