January 21, 2021 WHEN THERE IS AN UPROAR

There are people who enjoy stirring things up. They enjoy speaking their minds boldly or protesting violently against something. There are those who seek to lead others to do wrong and create chaos among the crowds. Instigating trouble and encouraging dissention among others does nothing for any cause. Creating uproars among various groups just increases disturbance and turmoil. When there is an uproar among us, we may become anxious and worry; however, the right response is to seek peace.

There are peacekeepers and there are peacemakers. Peacekeepers don’t stir up things and just let things happen so they don’t cause uproars at all. Peacemakers are those who do something to make peace happen. They work for peace. Not just in words but in actions. When there is an uproar in our lives, we need to pray asking God what He wants us to do to make peace. We should let our actions, not just our words, help create peace.

Matthew 5:9 “God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” (NLT)

Romans 12:18 “Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.” (NLT)

1. Write what you do to create peace.
2. List what the Bible says about being a peacemaker
3. Strive to make peace in all relationships.
4. Remember God blesses those who work for peace.

Dear Lord, we want to be peacemakers for You. Help us and show us what actions we can take to help create peace in our relationships, in our community and in this world. We know not everything in life is going to be peaceful but we can begin in our lives living as peacemakers to those around us so we can glorify Your name and live a godly example to those around us. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

James 3:18 “And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.” (NLT)

Proverbs 1:33 “But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.” (NLT)

Psalm 34:14 “Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.” (NLT)

Hebrews 12:14 “Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” (NLT)

Proverbs 16:7 “When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.” (NLT)

1 Peter 3:11 “Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.” (NLT)
