January 24, 2021 WE NEED EACH OTHER
Many of us like to go it alone. We want to do things our way. When someone else comes along, they have other ideas and different opinions to share. We either go their way or explain why we do things our way. Despite the differing opinions, it is good to see what others think before making decisions. The perspective of others can help us see things in different ways and take other things into consideration.
God didn’t put us here to live life alone. He created both man and woman knowing we need one another. Not just to make a family but to succeed in all we do. When we spend time with others sharing ideas, we learn more and can use their help to get things done. There is strength in numbers as well as opportunities for new ideas and possibilities.
On the flip side, when we take time to encourage others with what they are doing, they will be more apt to keep going. We can spend time with them and help them succeed with our own ideas, talents and skills. Doing good work grows exponentially with the help and encouragement of others. Let’s seek others to help us and let’s help and encourage them as well.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” (NLT)
1. Write what you do to help others.
2. List anything you may be attempting alone.
3. Remember God says two people are better than one.
4. Seek wise counsel and help before taking action.
Dear Lord, we are so grateful for the wisdom You give us. You remind us in Your word that we are created to help one another. We are to encourage and build others up. We are to motivate others to do good things to please You and give You the glory. Help us to seek wise counsel before we take action and help us to seek to encourage others to do the same. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” (NLT)
Hebrews 10:24-25 “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” (NLT)
Ephesians 4:29 “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” (NLT)
1 Peter 4:10 “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” (NLT)
Romans 12:4-5 “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.” (NLT)
Philippians 2:4 “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.” (NLT)
