That's been the theme of my day.  I knew there was a Co op somewhere within local distance because my neighbour come hairdresser mentioned it some time back.  A considerable time back actually given no ones allowed to have their hair done now. Unless they're chums with Bo Jo The Clown and his Bunch of Blithering Buffoons. I had a fairly clear idea of where it was so today I decided to go find it and check it out.  The walk was quite pleasant actually.  I think it helps [me at least] to be actually walking somewhere, rather than just walking to do my twenty minutes.

The store itself was pretty small.  I expected it to be more expensive than Morrisons over at the Retail Park but my goodness it was pricey.  The little Post Office come general store two minutes from my house is better value!  Still it was good to 'black my nose' as my mother used to say.  Plus get more of a feel for the area.  I checked it on google maps after and it is 0.7 miles from Base Camp - so just under 1 1/2 miles in total. I came back a slightly different way which felt a little quicker but wasn't.  Took me 15 minutes each way which without drilling into the maths is, I believe you'll find, 3 mph [or was back in the Ice Age when I was still at school] .  Good to know I am basically back up to an average walking speed in general now.

I noticed a library quite nearby to the Co op.  Not the 'main' library which obviously is in the City Centre.  Right on the front actually.  A library nonetheless.  Tippety tap on my keyboard enabled me to explore it a bit more once I got back to Base Camp.  I can join online though I will at some point have to take proof if ID and address - the driving licence will do.  All the hassle I had getting it replaced it's good that it has other uses given I don't drive anymore.  Of course the library isn't currently able to open for browsing due to the Frigging Fizzy Flu. Which is a shame because one of my greatest pleasures is browsing around a library.  However, it is possible seemingly to order books online or by phone and collect them [plus drop them back].  It's also possible to 'borrow' e books which is handy especially having bought the tablet last year and hardly using it.  If we have any spells of really hot weather like last summer, I can imagine making use of that whilst sitting in the garden given near enough all my actual books are still in The ex Worker[?] Friend's loft.  Not to mention it will be useful when I'm finally able to travel and stay back 'home'.

I also realised there's a Dr's surgery in the same area [ish] which leaves me in a bit of a quandry.  I haven't registered with a Dr since moving here and recently figured I'd probably better do so.  I've got the forms to register with a surgery a couple of miles away which I could get the bus to [most of the way].  The surgery I noticed today is probably just under a mile from Base Camp so walkable.  But if I'm feeling really unwell, what would be easier, a bus ride, or an almost one mile walk?  I rarely visit the Dr's anyway so I'm going to have to think back as to when I actually needed to go in the past and whether a bus ride or a walk would have been better.

The weather was still so good [in terms of The Wetlands] today that I bunged some laundry on, then Cook 'explored' the fridge for any 'old' veg and rustled up a veggie dhal.  Along with some cucumber raita although she's still grumbling because she didn't have any fresh mint.  I get where she's coming from but it was still good.  Aware of The Countess de Clutter's threat/promise/whatever to return at the weekend, I've gone through the suitcase and bags of clothes.  Don't get ahead of yourselves - I haven't put everything away.  But I have at least gone through it all and sorted it.  Or 'explored' it all as it were.

Bright blessings

Do register at the dr. I would probably go the walking distance one... good for you exploring and sorting through those clothes. I washed two more tops that are too big today, so off they will go to the Emmaus centre...

Please do register with the Doctor. Peace of mind is invaluable.

I have enjoyed walking different routes here. One of my guilty pleasures is seeing interesting places for sale and checking them on RightMove. Pretty sure when I saw a place with mirrored bedroom, sunken jacuzzi and platform bed wasn't somewhere that you might find in certain films!

    Good for you exploring!

Nice to live someplace where you can walk! That was my criteria when we moved here . . . . have to be able to walk everywhere and we CAN!

    Have a great Friday.
