Feb 26-TGIF

Although to those of us that are retired it is not quite of the impact that it was while working, tis till nice to just think that the Weekend is here!! Now days I try to schedule drives to the lake or the mountains during the week when it is less crowded and there is less traffic..one absolute perk to retirement is the freedom to do what you want when you want...mostly. Of course there are the usual commitments but not the need to clock in and out on such a rigid schedule.
My plans for today were to get out and about headed South towards the hills..but after a very brief and challenging walk in the mud to feed and do chores I did decide that hanging at the house was the better choice for today.
I should have taken a picture of the egg I got today. It was shaped like a rifle bullet..HONEST!! plus it was dark brown at one end fading to a pale brown at the other!! only the size of a large caliber rifle bullet as well! One of the girls looked at it and commented ...How did that even come out of a chicken!! I think it might have been two of what they call Lash eggs, the eggs they lay when they first start..but this one was twins. I will break it in the AM...will take a pic first I promise..and see if it has two yolks to confirm my suspicions. My old hens are still working and earning their keep. They might only lay every other day..but for their age I am thinking that's not bad. I keep thinking I am going to look up and see exactly how old they are..but I do know for sure that I was looking at pics from 5 years ago or longer and some of the big fluffy butts were in those pics..probably as young hens!! I just like those hens they have been interesting and fun to watch over time. One to this day gets broody and will go round making clucking noises looking for chicks to raise..but she refuses to sit a nest? A lil confused in her senior years I guess!
That was about it for the day...just a peaceful quite day here on Stonebound Acres..I hope ya'al have a good nights rest and wake to a fun weekend!!
