Today was weigh-in day

Wow..I was a little disappointed at first...I stepped on my scale believing that I would have dropped a pound or two and, in fact, I GAINED 2 pounds!!! I kept getting off the scale and back on again about 5 or more times, but the answer was always the same.

Ah...but then I measured myself and I found that I lost .75 inches!! Then when I looked even further, at the end of last year I was down a total of 29.50 of today I am down a total of 30.25 inches. Who can be upset about that???? Not me!! Could it be that I'm gaining muscle weight since I've added more weight training? That's the story I'm sticking with!!

    You're right! Muscle IS a lot heavier than fat. So as you build muscle, you may not see a dramatic reduction in scale numbers right away but you will see reductions in inches - as you've proven! Also, as muscle builds the body retains some water, so those two pounds are probably just that. Watch your sodium intake and stick with weight training - muscle burns calories even at rest, so you will boost your metabolism and that scale will start moving in the direction you want.

    You are doing great and should be very proud of yourself!
