Have belonged to 4 of my teams over 10 years. They are not very active but I stick with them.

I have searched for teams to join and been disappointed that they're not really active, but as Kris said, it only takes a minute to two to figure that out, and then I just move on to the next team I'm interested in. I don't use the Community Feed and much prefer the way teams used to be before Team Walls were introduced. There used to be a lot of great discussions and support to be had through the Team Message Boards. Sometimes I think the SparkPeople "powers that be" never really belonged, used, or even tried out the teams or they would have realized that the Team Walls and Community Feed were going to virtually make the Team Message Boards obsolete and that the support that made SparkPeople so valuable would be almost gone. It's sad to see the changes that have taken place since I joined SparkPeople so many years ago.

@DETERMINEDLOSER I belong to a number of 'inactive' teams but it doesn't meant that they are of benefit still. Most of them are health-related and I often go back to them to read links or comments. I would imagine that other people do this too. Good idea to leave the alone.

In the team search it will come up that it is inactive when you click on it. It doesn't take a minute even to find that out so if you don't want to go any further you don't want to.

For me, it depends on what team it is. If it's very important to me, I might make an effort to engage team members ... or not.

I really feel that if a team has been in active for a certain amount of time that it should be deleted. It is so frustrating to do a team search for something that you are interested in, only to find that there is no activity in it. I have been disappointed several times because of this. I am not crazy about the Community Fee because the topics posted are all scrambled. I don't want to have to search the entire community fee to find something that I am interested in. I love reading about accomplishments and successes, although I feel that it is full of people. I like the smaller teams because you get to know one another and it is more supportive. Also, people on teams hold you more accountable.

I agree - a lot of teams seem to be very inactive. I wonder whether SP has the technology to identify teams that haven't been posted to for - say - 6 months and close them down. It might be less confusing for new people looking for teams to join.
Funnily enough my main team 'Happy healthy sparkers' hasn't been affected by the community wall. There are probably 7 or 8 people who post daily and several others who post when they can. That has become a team of people who genuinely care about one another. I think there are some other teams like that. It's probably a case of ploughing through the dead ones to find a good team.

I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Ah, the FB like interaction versus actual conversation and give and take.
Sad. Teams seemed like great areas to deeply discuss things the message boards could only touch upon.
And places where one word answers did not fly.
I’d been inactive myself for a long time, came back years later and in one team, mine was the most recent post.

Kris is right... the message boards were killed with the introduction of the Community Feed.
New members now choose to hit "like" or contribute memes and short phrases, rather than engage in any sort of meaningful conversation.

The teams slackened off considerably with activity when The Community Feed was introduced. Prior to that, when The Wall was introduced people started to slow down with posting in the various teams' message boards and instead posted in the wall, but the Community Feed has been a big kick in the guts for most teams.

Do you notice some of your teams are languishing in the doldrums?
Are posts months apart, and well, vapid at that?

What do you do? Post? Ignore? Drop the team?
And why.
