You can make Panettone, Urbanrednek. It is a sweet yeast bread with fruit. It calls for 1/3 cup of sugar. You may be able to use less. Since it doesn't take much to make yeast grow.

My family loves fruitcake and panettone. So I make those for them every year. I don't care for either. I do make a golden fruitcake that is edible. Still not a favorite.

So I am not tempted in the slightest.

I am considering making a Yule Log for Christmas.
I am going to make a bread pudding out of the dinner rolls from Thanksgiving.

yearly I have my grand kids over for cookie decorating. I bake the cookies - sugar, gingerbread, peanut butter and chocolate chips. They decorate. This is my 3nd year of doing this. my GD is 7, GS is 5 and GD is 2 1/2. I have t-shirts and I have sprinkles - gummies and all sorts of toppings for the cookies. I made sure that I chew gum the entire time. I also have a meal for the adults who come and get the kids afterwards.

I bought a pumpkin pie and pecan pie for Thanksgiving. For Christmas, I may make my Mother's refrigerator fruitcake - no baking required for that, though.

I've already got a lot of my "usual" baking done and in the freezer, with extras for guests and gifting: muffins (chocolate beet cranberry, kabocha squash with berries, and carrot); scones (whole wheat apple raisin and low carb lemon blueberry); sweet rolls (whole wheat pumpkin cranberry); low carb mini cheesecakes (cran-blueberry and apple-pear)

I still have some breads to do: Westphalian style pumpernickel, wholegrain rye, mixed wholegrain sandwich bread, apple oat sweet loaves and dinner rolls, and likely some pumpkin rye dinner rolls

I am also contemplating some fruit cakes (not fruitcake - I've left it too late to do those properly!). I'm collecting the dried fruits that I like (figs, dates, apricots, blueberries, cherries, prunes, and candied ginger) and just need to settle on a recipe that I can play with to get down to a sugar level that I will actually enjoy... I'm open for any suggestions if anyone has a favourite emoticon
