Job #1 and job #2... nutrition tracker and fitness tracker in that order. The most important thing to do is get your calorie intake under control, so nutrition is first. You can also use exercise to increase the daily calorie deficit that is needed to lose weight while also becoming more fit. It's very important to touch base here every day and also a good idea to collect SparkPoints daily to give you a gauge of how much and how well you've done. Discipline and dedication are what you're after so build on them daily and you'll see that success you're looking for. Best of luck with the goals and welcome to SparkPeople!

Seems what I view as healthy is not working, so I am doing something new. I really need to make changes in my lifestyle before I cannot make changes. I turned 50 back in December, and I so wanted to be healthier by then. I did not make it. I didn't get worse, but I did not get better. Now I have half a year until my 51st birthday and I desperately want to improve by then. So I am giving this a go. Overall I am a very healthy obese person. I hate that word, but it is what I am. I look forward to being just overweight. It is very hard to do that at my age it seems. Anyway I joined lots of calendar challenges, and am going to do my best to meet each daily goal. I am also going to do my best to be active in the message boards. If I can just lose 2 lbs a week, that would be 50 lbs lost by the end of the year!!! That would be amazing. So please if anyone wants to encourage or help me out here I would be very appreciative for the assist, I hate asking for help, but here goes, please help me :)
