@LIFEUNDERTREES I joined SP for a very similar reason. I just wasn't fitting anywhere, and I wanted it to change. I feel the stress and pain that you go through every time. How can one be healthy in most aspects, but be so overweight?

You can do this by taking it one day at a time. I was able to lose 120 pounds with the help of SP. I wish you the best in doing the same.

If you need any help or support, let me know.

Welcome to Sparkpeople so glad you have joined us.

I believe you can do this - you seem to have your mind ready to make the necessary changes - I believe that those of us that realize we need to change things for our health seem to make better progress - I have in the past tried to do it to 'look better' or 'to buy better looking clothes' or 'lose it for my husband' but the truth is I need to lose the weight because of health issues.

Come to my sparkpage and look for the groups called 'Working at losing one pound at a time' = we are only 7 members but members that are committed to making changes and we all participate regularly - at least once a week - if this interests you please come and join us as we would love to have you

Run a copy of your post here and keep it. The next time you get the urge to splurge, look at it and take your own advice and realize once again how much success would mean to you. As one who has lost a hundred pounds using SparkPeople, I can assure you it's very real and very possible. I will also warn you that it's not easy. It's very simple, but by no means easy. After I lost the initial weight thirteen years ago I slowly started to neglect my plan again and gained over half of it back and along with the weight came disease, chief among them was Diabetes. For five years now I've been losing or maintaining and I've reversed the Diabetes. I still have a few pounds to lose and I'm slowly getting there, but I now realize that this is a lifetime commitment and requires work and dedication to make it a lifestyle instead of a short term diet. You can do it too. Best of luck and welcome to SparkPeople!

On my 30th birthday I wanted to celebrate by riding the giant slingshot at the amusement park. It was like $20 a person or something. The guy loaded me and my friend into the 2-person seat, but when he lowered the bar, it wouldn’t close. I had to get off the ride. I was sad and humiliated.

Last year my family went to Disneyland for the first time ever! The plane ride was uncomfortable. I needed a seatbelt extender. I was scared they would say I had to buy an extra seat. I had nightmares before the trip that I wouldn’t fit on the plane and would be left behind.

I never carpool with my coworkers to off-site meetings or to lunch because I’m worried I won’t fit in the backseat. Or I’ll have to push the front seat way back. Or their seatbelt won’t fit me.

When I bought a new car a few months ago, my #1 criteria was that it had to be a “fat people car”.

I don’t want to lose weight to look good (though it’s sure a nice perk!)

I don’t want to lose weight for my health (I have great BP and cholesterol, I’m not diabetic.)

I want to lose weight because I’m tired of not fitting. Into rides. Into planes. Into cars. Into life.

It’s hard for me to imagine a world where I don’t first consider how I will fit into any given plans.

I’m going to lose 100 lbs. I have more than that to lose, but 100 lbs will put me at a size that at least I will fit most things. 100 lbs is a good start. This isn’t my first time at this rodeo. I always get bucked—usually by a vacation, or a holiday, or the flu, or some other event—and then I give up and gain back everything +20.

This time is different though. I feel it in my bones. I feel a need to fit. I hope some people here can help me along the way. Maybe I can help some people too.
