MIMILIFE, So sorry for your loss Sis but, I'm glad you joined SP.

I'm new to this board but I have been on SP for a while.

I'm Bobbie from N. Texas about 10 miles south of the Big Red (we call it) it's the Red River that flows between OK and TX. I'm fifth-generation Texan on my maternal side as far as I could find out. I love doing genealogy.

I have a blended family of 8 grown-up kids, 15 grands, and 22 great-grands. Only one of our kids lives in the same town as us (and she is our only adopted one), all the others live hours away, some in other states. My DH and I have been happily married for 39 years. We have both traveled together and separately. My dad worked in the oil fields so, as a kid, we traveled a lot. I can remember living in Wyoming and the show being taller than me. My DH was a military brat. His dad was a 30-year man in the Air Force. Togeather we have traveled with an oil field company from West Virginia to California and back to Texas. DH was born in Nashville Tennessee.

We have lived and worked in a lot of states but we have lived the longest here in north Texas for about 25 years.

Well, I guess that's enough introduction for now. We'll get to know each other better as we go along.

Happy trails y'all, Bobbie

First, my sympathy upon your loss. I've been discovering that one of the tolls for getting to grow older is losing so many friends and loved ones along the way. I can't give you any particular tips except maybe perseverance, but here's a blog on emotional eating from a very successful Sparker and if you search the site you'll find much more on the subject. Welcome to SparkPeople and best wishes for meeting your new goals:

Welcome to Sparkpeople so glad you have joined us

There are a lot of articles that might be helpful to read. Also when you look at the top of your screen - where you see 'start' look for 'learn' and click on it. Then click on The Sparkpeople 28 day program - a good way to start your program here

Also remember to use the trackers - tracking all that you put into your mouth helps a lot as you can then reflect back after a week to see what was good and what needs to be worked on.

I also looked at your Sparkpage and noticed that you didn't put anything on it - consider putting on it a little about yourself and your journey - that way when we come to say hi we can read how you are doing.

Remember to participate as often as possible on all the groups you have joined as that is where you will get a lot of encouragement and motivation

Good morning, I wanted to say hello from Texas. I’ve unplugged from all social media and now spend much more time exercising. I’m tracking my meals, but unfortunately my 50 year old sister-in-law passed away unexpectedly and today is her funeral. I find myself wanting unhealthy comfort food and started overindulging yesterday (huge meal and dessert). Any tips as to how to divert my mindset of eating away my grief?
