Thank you for the encouraging words. I hope you enjoy success in your health-related goals, especially as Thanksgiving peeks around the corner with treats in each hand.

Hi emoticonJAMESEVER and emoticon to SparkPeople...Nice to have you with us on the journey to a healthier lifestyle.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

I wrote a reply and posted it . . . somewhere on this website. Oh well. Anyway, I think your page reminded me of what worked for me. Taking detailed notes on whatever you're focused on achieving. I have found that writing the goal first and then writing consistent notes results in results. Be encouraged!

Good to know someone can overcome the sugar addiction. Is there a triple "S" meeting with a 12-step program. "Helli, my name name is _____, and I'm a sugarholic." Those three "S's" can be placed on our chest when we've made it to our goal. :-)

Hello, I'm Bobbie

I'm not new to SP but, I got burned out a couple of years ago and took what I call a Spark Break. I am back to work on my health. My blood sugar and pressure to be to the point.

I started by throwing away anything that had SUGAR in it and anything that our bodies TURN INTO SUGAR, like pasta, potatoes, bread, rice, etc. Then, I went shopping for fresh greens and other veggies, proteins and condiments.

That was last Sat. 10/24/19 and to my surprise within 3 days my blood sugar went down from morning readings being from 250s/300s range to the 180s/140s so far.

I am Elated, to say the least. I can't wait to see what it is in a month!!!

Thank you. It's a bit more challenging as the more festive food-based holidays arrive.

I'm new to this website and have been getting the gist of everything.

My journey to being more serious about health and fitness started after my doctor shared the results of my cholesterol tests some years ago: 242. I immediately changed my nightly feeding patterns which featured mostly Buffalo wings, Pizza Hut Meat-Lovers pizza, or Whoppers with cheese.

I also slowly backed away from the bar scene, too. After months of eating better, my cholesterol dropped to 139.

Currently, I enjoy mainly plant-based organic foods and exercise by walking briskly each day.

I found out about the website after searching for others who had walked 20,000 steps a day. I had thought only I did such a thing until I read about a guy on this website who posted his story from many years ago. I'm here now.
