Hi VALLIE15 and to SparkPeople...Nice to have you with us on the journey to a healthier lifestyle.
You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.
Mistakes are the portals of discovery.
Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.
It is never too late to be what you might have been.
Welcome to Sparkpeople so glad you have joined us.
I have looked at your sparkpage and see that you have joined a few groups which is great - remember to participate as often as possible on them as that is where you will get encouragement and motivation.
I also noticed that you haven't any information about yourself on it - consider putting a little about you and your journey - that way when we come to say hi we can read how you are doing.
I have been with Sparkpeople many years but deleted my account only to start over - and it has been the best thing for me. I am refocused and doing well. I am 71 soon to be 72 and loving life. Please send me a sparkmail and I can share with you one change that I have made and because of that I am losing consistently.
I've been here for nearly fourteen years and not all of it went well, but the part that did is what I'll tell you about. After losing over a hundred pounds when I was fifty nine I had some surgery that led me back to my old ways until early in 2014 when the Doc told me I was Diabetic. I started my program again in earnest and I'm now off all my Diabetes meds and still slowly losing or maintaining for the last five years. When I restarted at that time, I was sixty seven. I'll be seventy three next birthday and am down well over eighty pounds total. Point is, if I can do it, you can do it. Jump in and get started and never look back. You'll be glad you did it. Best wishes in meeting your goals and welcome to SparkPeople!

Hello. I'm a 67 year old woman who has decided that being over weight has got to stop. I know that at my age I have to go slowly so that's why I joined Spark. I understand that it lets you lose at your own pace without giving up some of those favorite foods that you love so much. I haven't told my family that I set a goal for myself for next June because I feel they would be constantly watching me and let's face it....they are not the most supportive. This is something I am doing for myself. Thank you.
