Pat, please do take it slow getting back to your exercise! You don't always bounce back easily after the flu. Glad you're excited about the ribbon maker!

Sue, I'm so happy you got in with the hairdresser. Mine called me a few months ago...I hadn't put it on my calendar and I make my next appointment before I leave the previous one! She knew I was never late....and worked me in the next day! Good for all!!

I went to our HOA board meeting and did a project for a neighbor on the board. We serve wine and snacks at the Homeowner's meetings and people are always asking what kind of wine is this or that? I made little stand up signs with 'cabernet,' 'chardonnay,' etc. and backed them with some pretty paper. She loved them!

Sue I am glad the hairdresser was able to get you in today. I forgot an appointment once and my hairdresser called me too. I had just forgot to write it down. I hope you enjoy the cruise.
Rita I also love ribbon, today I went in search of some to make a St Pat's day door decoration. I did not find anything. Of course I only went to one store, but Wednesday I will go to more. I am obsessed now, lol.
I did go to the Y and did about half my normal workout. There were times I felt fine and times I did not. I was very tired when I got home so it is going to be a slow process getting back in shape. Tomorrow I will just be in the water for an hour so I should be able to handle that.
That's all I got for tonight, lol.

My head is in a hundred different places today. Today is haircut and color day and I confirm my appointment and then forgot to go. She called looking for me, since I never miss. Fortunately she had a cancellation for last this afternoon , so I won’t have to go on this trip looking like a skunk. When I get done with my hair I’m heading home to pull out half of what I packed. I have way too much stuff. Once I’m out the door I’ll be fine, won’t be able to change my mind on anything.

Well, Pam, I'm happy that you are 'free to marry' by now, lol!! Any prospects??!! It's crazy how the courts work. I hope there will be peace in your heart.

Rita, I have fabric that I bought probably in the late 90's when I was still thin. One was a cute dark cotton print that I was going to make a summer top out of....one yard of fabric! That wouldn't even go around my waist now, sadly. Ah, youth...or at least younger years! I really need to get back into it, though. I loved making my clothes and loads of the kids' clothes, curtains, and even a couple of cotton duck cloth comforters for the boys!

I did a couple of errands and came home. The sun is finally out, at least for a while. It makes life look so much better. I heard from my friend from AZ. She will be coming tomorrow for sure. So I signed us up for a trip to Galveston for the Red Hats going to a museum and to the Hotel Galvez for lunch.

Pat, now that you have a new door to decorate it will be fun doing up the holidays and seasons. I love ribbons so I'd be in such trouble having an excuse to buy more!

Mary, I made clothing in my early married days and few things for my first born but then I gave up clothing. I did curtains and misc until I hit on quilting! Fabric has a way of multiplying.

Donna, the composter will certainly add to your backyard activities. My GD loves to bring me out to theirs and show me how it tumbles. Between that and your manure you should have a most vibrant, successful growing season!

Pam, it's been a journey for you and it's good to know the last page has been turned! May only wonderful things and many blessings come your way now!

I got woke up by an early morning phone ringing that was a spam call or miscall. Anyway I never did get back to a good sleep so I am feeling a bit slow now. I have piles of magazines and papers on my coffee table that are needing attention and I am wanting to get back to the quilt tops. I wonder if a 2nd cup of coffee will put life in me? It's a sunny, pretty day with snow still on the ground. Tonight we are to get another 1-3 inches of snow. I have a dental cleaning tomorrow so I hope the roads stay clear.

I'm just popping in to answer Mary's question. Yes I am now "officially" divorced. I got the Divorce Order from the court a couple of weeks ago that stated that I wasn't free to remarry until 31 days past the "Order" date, which was January 16. Then, apparently, my lawyer goes to the court and gets the finalized papers and gets them to me (or I go pick them up - whatever). Trouble is, today is a holiday here in Ontario (Family Day), so the lawyers won't be working. Hopefully I will have the papers by the end of the week, but if I don't, I'm not worried. Basically nothing is changing for me. I wonder if they let His Lordship know that he is now free to remarry? I have no idea how it works.

Have a great Monday gals!

God bless,

Mary: The man brought the composter yesterday and set it up for me.... and he wasn't scary or threatening. You have to ask yourself why you are inviting a stranger to your house and into the backyard and are you safe. He was very nice and actually been doing chemo for 3 years. I had fun filling it up and tumbling it to mix it.

Pat: Enjoy your new toy. Sounds like fun and creative.

Sue is going to the caribbean again. She loves to cruise.

I have to get my oil changed and then go to the car wash. That will take up my entire morning before work. UGH! Not my favorite things to do.

Pam, I think it was Saturday when you said 'tomorrow' was D-Day. Were you able to get things finalized, or is it today? We are with you!

Pat, I'm sure the bow maker is fun! Hobby Lobby has such cute decorations. I don't have anything for St. Patrick's day so I might get a wreath or something there today! Have you met any more neighbors?

Sue, are you packed for your trip? Where does the cruise go? My friend who is supposed to come tomorrow for her cruise this weekend isn't sure if she can come early after all but will let me know today. She's coming from Phoenix and asked about our weather! I told her about Donna and the snow! Whatever she brings for the cruise we can wash!

Donna, did the man bring you the composter? I hope you will enjoy that. How is your back today?

Rita, I haven't let my fabric go yet...nothing like you and Sue with all the quilting supplies...just fabric for clothes. But it's pared down! I have patterns from when the twins were 2 and I never got around to making them anything! I love making my cards though.

It's another dreary foggy day here but it's 63 and will get into the high 70's. Crazy weather! I might get out and do a couple of errands. I'm tired of staying cooped up!

Rita I am having fun with the bow maker. So far I have just been practicing I am going to have to go out and buy some more ribbon, lol. I have taken down my Valentine wreath and my door is embarrassingly bare. I need another something to hang on it. I made a huge practice ribbon bow that would of looked great on the door but the ribbon was Christmas, so I am going to go get some different colors and some decorations and maybe make a St Patty's day door decoration.
Well back to my life in the morning, I am ready!
Pam I am glad you will be able to put the past behind you and start fresh. Sounds like your girls will lead you in the right direction. I also think you have been very courageous and have always taken the high road in this big wrinkle in your life. You are an inspiration to me.

Pat, I think a bow maker would be so much fun. I hope to see pictures! I used to make bows to attach to my cane. when I was a young mama. I made them to match my outfit. It was my fun way to deal with having to walk with a cane!

Mary, I had joined Sparks well before meeting all of you. Too bad I didn't stay with it back then. I remember meeting some that are not so active now.

Sue, I had bunches of craft things also but pared it down to quilt stuff. Since I hadn't sewn in 12 yr I'm glad now that I had packed up all my favorite fabrics as I'm using them now for the GK's quilts. Problem is I don't have room anymore for fabric and things. It's a bit frustrating. I know I haven't unearthed lots of my quilting stuff yet. Where are you cruising to? I must have missed that.

Donna, you are quite the gardener! I love fresh garden goodies but I sure can't grow anything!

Pam, it's been a long haul for you these past days so hopefully tomorrow you'll feel a huge relief and can embrace the new you and a new beginning for real!! Sending hugs your way!

Donna I’m so impressed with your gardening plan. I grew up with big gardens with my dad and my uncle and even D. Seemed like where ever I went I ended up working in the garden. Never again!!! I’ve canned my last tomato 🍅 and picked my last brand. Store frozen aren’t as good but a heck of a lot easier.

Mary I’m glad the eye is progressing well. Hopefully soon all will be back to normal.

Pam, you have done amazing and have been far more gracious than I’d have ever been. Don’t hurry anything, enjoy life now for what it has to offer. Start taking care if YOU and becoming the best you can be. You just never know what or who can catch your attention.

As for my quilting, you basically have quoted my plan. My guilds service projects makes quilts to donate to many large and small charities. That’s what I hope to contribute to. Be issue now is just getting all my sewing stuff unpack and organized so I know what I have. It’s coming along, slowly.

It’s a cold Sunday here in MD today. All I want to do is curl up in a blanket and sleep.

Pam: Never say never. ha ha Go with whatever you are feeling today. You have suffered a huge loss. Acknowledge those feelings and tomorrow get on with your new life. This is the first day of the rest of YOUR new life. It can be whatever you want it to be.

Mary: Glad you are following the MD's guidelines.

I have yard work that has to be done this morning. If my back holds out I will play ball at noon. Then my girlfriend and husband are coming to drill holes in my cement block fence so I can try to attach a fence to it so I can keep Emma out of my garden area.

I, for one, think you have been remarkable throughout all your ordeal, Pam. You have maintained a great sense of humor, making the best of the situation, hitting it head-on, and you have survived. Just know that we are all hoping that 'D-Day' will happen with as little fanfare as possible and you will come through it and continue to 'bloom and grow!'

I went to our country western dance last night with my wonderful neighbors. It just killed me to SIT there and not dance but it was fun to watch everyone and the band was great. It was a lot better than just sitting at home. My eye still 'smarts' when I roll my eyes or glance from one side to the other too quickly. But it's healing properly so far, according to the surgeon and that makes me feel good. I drove up to the clubhouse (3 streets!) to see if I could buy a ticket for last night but there wasn't anyone in the office. I didn't have any trouble driving so that was good. I see the surgeon next Friday morning for him to take the contact out. Then we'll see how the healing is progressing. I won't line dance until Thursday!

Sue, you are NOT the only one sitting around trying to get motivated. Most days, I'm in my sewing room making stuff because I'd go crazy spending the whole day either watching television or the computer screen! Also, I joined the gym in January and haven't been yet! LOL! Maybe I'll get motivated to go at some point. I think I'm just embarressed to show up in my old and fat body while everyone else looks buff. It's a relatively small gym, but it has all the equipment. Sue, if you are looking for a project with all that fabric, make up some smaller quilts and donate them to your local cancer center. People who go in for chemotherapy would probably really appreciate the thought of someone making something cozy for them, because it can get pretty chilly when you're parked in a chair getting poison dumped into your veins. Just a thought.

Anyway, I just popped in to say hi! The girls and I went out to dinner tonight to celebrate my D-Day tomorrow. It will seem such a relief (I hope) to be finally and irrevocably divorced. My girls were joking about me being a swinging single again and who I should date. I just looked at them and said "uh.....no..no..and more no." LOL! NOT doing that again. Once was enough.

Have a great weekend!

God bless,

Sue, you go so many fun places all year long! I hope you enjoy the cruise. I have a friend coming in on Tuesday and her husband comes on Friday, then I will take them to Galveston for their cruise on Sunday next weekend like I did for you and Jean! I don't think I stress eat...I just EAT! Because it's time, because it looks good, smells good, tastes good, it's there, etc!

Donna, for some reason, those rolling up vertebrae by vertebrae is something I've always been able to do! Don't know why! Even when I had the eye surgery, the nurse asked if I was able to sit up....she turned to the side for something and I just 'rolled up' and she was amazed! But ask me to squat or lunge and I cringe!! Good for you with the Pilates. I wish we had a class here. I think I'd like that. I can't imagine shoveling manure after your back hurt so much last night! Hope the composter is just what you want.

I went to the clubhouse to get my ticket for the dance and everything was dark...no one in the office so I will try later. Supposedly there are many tickets available and I will sit with my friends and enjoy the music!

My Pilates class is really hard. I have to talk myself into going every class. One thing the instructor has had us doing every class is to attempt to lay flat with your arms stretched out in front of you. Then you are to roll up one vertebrae at a time. When you get to that hitch and want to jerk up or roll to one side you are not allowed to. Heels can not come up either. Just roll up one vertebrae at a time. Very hard!!! After 6 weeks I did it today. Controlled all the way up. YEA!!!!!!! So I guess the class is actually working. I also can stand up out of the tub now with no problem.

My back gave out last night after continuing to adjust the fence everytime Emma found a way in. All that bending really did me in. I barely made it back into the house. Lucky for me after a pain pill and 2 hours of laying flat I have recovered just in time today to go to the horse farm and shovel manure and and chicken sh#%. All so good for the garden soil. I get my free composter tomorrow. Can't wait. I always get excited in spring for a very productive garden. Again this year I am prepping the soil so I hope to get a good yield. Time will tell.

Sue: You have so many projects to work on. I hope you get motivated. Wish I had projects at home to work on. Stress eating is a huge issue for me too. It is hard to stop grazing when you are stressed.

I feel like the town failure compared to you all. You are all so dedicated and work so hard to exercise, record and stay on track. I am my own worst enemy when it comes to losing weight. 1. I love to cook and bake, so there is never any shortage of goodies. 2. I love "goodies". When I try not to make them I get very down on myself and feel deprived. I do try to limit my "sweet treats", but right now my willpower is shot. I have a couple of stressful projects ahead of me, not awful, just stressful because I've left them to the last minute. For me stress and eating go together. I just keep thinking, "one more snack and then I'll get ready to get at it". Well, it's usually more snacking then working. Maybe it's just wintertime grazing. What ever it is, it's the source of my weight gain. 😢

Pat, I'm glad you are feeling better. Sounds like you headed it off in time and got the abbreviated version of the flu. Most folks wouldn't even to thinking about exercising yet. I have so many craft projects to work on and can't seem to get motivated to work on the. Biggest issue is, I really don't need any of them. I already have a 50 yr marriage work of crafts ' I need to get rid of. I got into quilting because I didn't need to make any more clothes. Now I have mountains of quilt fabric, patterns and supplies that I don't know what to do with. I hope to make a pile of charity quilts for our guild's service project, as well as a stash of baby quilts for hopeful future family use or gifts. Oh so much interest, so little ambition.

We leave on a cruise on Wed, we get back the 4th of March. I guess about tomorrow I should think about packing. UGH. I can't believe it will be "Spring" when I get back. We have had such a mild winter this year, I still feel like I'm waiting for winter to arrive. We've only had one dusting of snow all winter and that was gone as soon as the sun came up.

Time to think about getting back to work. It's either that or have another snack. - s

Pat, if you need a stalker, I'm your girl, lol! I went to my Spark page and looked over all the options...I now have my fitness minutes, thanks to you! I wish they would result in some good losses! Good luck with the bow maker. You are so talented and it should come in handy with all the pretty wreaths you make!

Mary isn't it funny how it just automatically records our minutes as long as we log them in? I have not been to the Y one day this past week but plan to go next week again. I probably will take it a little easy at first as I can tell I am not 100% yet. But if I don't get back soon it will just keep getting harder. And yes Mary thank you for the Sparkgoodie valentine. It was a nice surprise. I keep forgetting about that aspect of this site and should spend some of my Sparkgoodies.
Rita I have an older sister who has so much will power and is a tiny little thing. I wished many times I had her metabolism or will power or what ever she has that allows her to only have one cookie after her meal, lol. And I am so happy to hear your blood work is improving, your feeling better and going to get some of your stamina back. I can imagine it is a bit frustrating not know exactly why all that happened but I guess some things we are just not meant to know.
Well I got myself a new toy yesterday that I am going to play with today. It is the Deluxe EZ Bow maker, lol. I have this ridiculously large collection of ribbons that I am hoping to turn into some beautiful things. If any works out I will post a picture.

I'm glad you were getting out and about if you're feeling better, Pat. I didn't think about recording my exercise minutes...I do excel in that, although it doesn't seem to pan out, lol!

Rita, you are most welcome! I sent to everyone in all my Spark groups, I hope, because I got 1000 Spark Goodie points on my spin yesterday! It took a long time, and I didn't send to people I don't even remember, lol! But it was a walk down memory lane. So many of my original friends here haven't been on Spark in years. Hooray for good blood work and the PT coming soon. I'm sure that will help. As for your mom and the food, my mother would say the same thing. The chef at Calder Woods was the husband of a woman who owned a local restaurant in Beaumont. The food was really good but huge portions!

I might buy a ticket and sit with some of my friends tonight at the country western dance...not dancing but enjoying the music! Not sure yet. Cherilyn is bringing the girls over this morning and Steven will see if he can get my deadbolt to work on my back door!

Mary, thank you for the Spark Valentine! It was a lovely surprise!

My blood work today was encouraging. It inched up the highest it's been. The PA said they've turned over every rock and still don't know why I have the anemia. At least I feel better than last year! I won't have another blood check for 3 mo and see the Dr. for 6 mo. I can always call in if I don't feel well. Good news is they are signing me up for Physical Therapy to rebuild the muscle I've lost last year being so down and out. I look forward to getting some strength back!

My Mama is so funny. She eats like a bird and the retirement home has fabulous meals. Today was prime rib and trimmings for lunch. Later there was an afternoon social with a buffet and wonderful entertainment. Then huge western hamburgers for dinner. She asks for small servings but she can't eat even that. I did not inherit my eating patterns from her! I would so love the meals she's having!

Pam I am having my ticker record my exercise minutes, it is the only thing I can do consistently. My weight is another story, lol.
Well I finally got out of the house today. Only for a little while but it was good. I was tired by the time I got home but am feeling better each day, thank goodness

I haven't looked at my ticker in years. I have updated it to show my 28 pound loss that I have kept off.

Mary: The dog likes to bury things and the dirt is much softer in the garden area. I secured the fence the best I could and she still got in. I threw a bone in there and watched her slide in on the left corner. I baracaded that and threw another bone in. This time she pushed things around and slid in through the right end. I baracaded that and threw a bone in. She pushed threw a weak point in the fencing. I doubled fenced that area. Not sure it is secure yet........

Pam, my ticker didn't reflect that I had gained in the first place, so once I lose, I will change, lol! I remember waaaayyyy so long ago, I lost 30 pounds in the first Spark year! Then I gained, lost, gained, and kept gaining. Our line dancing teacher wants to start up an unofficial TOPS kind of thing so several of us are planning on doing it at some point! I'm glad you enjoyed the impromptu breakfast with the vet friend. Cell phones do come in handy!

Donna, I wonder why the dogs won't stay away from the garden when there is a fence? Our dogs wouldn't even cross over a 1 foot barrier to leave the kitchen overnight! I hope all your hard work pays off! I can't imagine trying to do any outside games in such cold weather! You have so much stamina.

I didn't sleep as well last night as I did the night before and when I look from one side to the other I get a little jolt...but my vision is clearer even today, so I'm glad of that! I am so grateful that the surgery went well.

Pam: This group plays on M,W,F but sometimes they show up on T, TH. I thought since we had snow on Wed, they might show up on Thursday. They play in 23 degree weather all the time. That is too cold for me. Too hard to move about when you have that many layers on.

I am still trying to build a fence that will keep my 100 pound lab out of my garden area. I have lost so many times reinforcing what I have so today I tore the whole fence down and put stakes in every 2 feet. Then I put the fence back in place and wired it at the top and bottom. That SHOULD stop her from bending the top down with her teeth so she can jump in or slide in under the fence. I will be adding additives to the soil this weekend and I need her to stay out. Time will tell if I win this round.

Mary, fortunately for Pat, she had the flu shot. That means that she could still get the flu, but it will be much milder and she will recover quickly, unlike someone who catches it without the vaccine.

Donna, you made me laugh. You really expected people to show up at an outdoor court when the temps were at freezing point? LOL!

Rita, I'm so sorry you fell - and on your tailbone! That can really hurt and take a long time to recover from. Hope it feels better sooner rather than later! I'm glad that your sweet mama is settling. The older one gets, the longer it takes to adjust to new surroundings. But as you and Rex are being so good to her, I'm sure she'll be "at home" pretty quickly.

My vet friend, Sharon drove into London to get her Subaru serviced, and she got a loaner and showed up at my door! We went out for a late breakfast (for her - early one for me LOL) and we had a lovely visit. I so enjoyed it. I always thought I was non-techy, but she is an absolute dinosaur when it comes to computers and cellphones, so I was blindsided when she pulled out a cellphone when we got back to see if the dealership had called. She finally gave in and let her husband get her one. It was the same one as mine, so we could compare notes. Harold told her she didn't have flashlight. So I showed her where it was, and she was so happy that she could show her husband something he didn't know! LOL!

Kerry, I saw that video of Amelia too. She was/is so cute. emoticon

Oh yes! I mean to say I had a giggle when scrolling through the posts. Every single ticker at the end of our posts said "No Pounds Lost" - we're not doing well are we...LOL! (except for Pat's and I couldn't figure hers out).

Well I'm off to facebook for a bit. Catch you in the morning.

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

Pat, I thought you just GOT the flu...it can't be almost over yet, can it? I hope you stay home as long as it takes...nothing to play around with this year, for sure.

Kerry, I haven't been on FB so I haven't seen Amelia...I'm sure it's a cute video!

Rita, the Jello Shot photo is a hoot. So glad you have such fun friends even from 'long ago!'

I got a great report from the surgeon. Even though my eye looks like raw hamburger to me, he said it's healing nicely, I CAN bend over, and he will talk to the nurses because they shouldn't be telling people not to, and I can drive as long as I can see! I don't want to yet...the vertigo was so unnerving! But my vision is much clearer today and I am almost through with the headache. Four sweet neighbors came by this afternoon and stayed for 3 hours...we had such fun visiting in a small group and I am so blessed to have them! One brought soup!

Oh Rita you sure raised my spirits with the picture. Not sure if my friends showed up on FB but she took a picture of me doing my shot with a spoon, lol. You are such an interesting person with all your activities. And when you talk about your mom and how much joy she gets from life I can see where your spark comes from.
I ruined my tailbone from a fall once, not a comfortable healing process, hope yours was not serious!
Sorry no one showed up to play with you Donna, lol. I woke up to 2 degrees this morning and tomorrow will be in the minus degrees. I will stay home from the Y one more day even though my fever will of been gone 24 hours by then. Not a smart move to get out in that cold of weather just getting over the flu. I am getting very tired of staying home even though I know it is where I should be.
Kerry I saw the video you daughter put on FB of the little one walking. It was so cute, especially when she started walking on her feet and hands. She is a ball of energy that is for sure.
Mary I am glad the surgery is over and the healing has begun. I hope the doctor's appointment goes well and your vision improves.
Well I was doing so well taking my temp. Every 2 hours since 8 this morning with each one below normal. The 6:00 one was 99.4 so now I have to start all over again. I have to get out tomorrow at least for a little while so I will bundle up and not cough on anyone. I have to be almost over this RIGHT?

It's 23 degrees right now and wind chill of 15. Big 3 feet icicles are hanging from my patio porch and front eaves. Brrr

Donna, you'll enjoy the composter. My kids have one and are always filling it. My son who grows the giant pumpkins makes his trip to "the farm" to get his "stuff" for his garden. I'm glad they have green thumbs since I certainly don't! As for fun I haven't done....I do think/know there are things but I'm feeling I got too old too fast to get all my fun done! Starting my "Rita" quilt of things I've done will help me remember all my "fun". I do suspect I've done more than most but it's a balance from all the years when I was recovering in casts, braces, etc with my congenital dislocated hip. I still try to find fun where and when I can!

Mary, I know how awful that vertigo can feel and adding in the fuzziness and double vision is miserable. I am so happy it's better today. I know each day will be better!

Rita, I love hearing of your adventures, too! So very sorry you fell, though. I had a few attacks of vertigo yesterday once I took the patch off my eye. I was leaning left and sooo off balance. I think now it must have been from my eye being totally dilated. Everything was fuzzy and I had double vision in that eye. This morning it's so much better. I was very worried about falling and held onto furniture and the walls! Hope the blood work will be okay!

Donna, I'm not a gardener but I know that you are...hope the composting will bring much satisfaction. Do you think the dogs chewed up the water line or just the weather had a bad impact? My sprinkler guy needs to come check things out for me!

Cherilyn is on her way to get me. I'll check in later after the doctor's appointment!

Good Morning all: I have the whole day and nothing to do. Amazing. I tried to play ball but no one showed up. Maybe because it was only 32 degrees?
I will have to find a project to work on today. Actually I have. As the snow melts what is being exposed on the lawn is my drip system for the rose garden frozen in the snow on the lawn. GRRR that means I have to wait for it to thaw enough for me to rescue it and try to reattach it if it is now chewed up.

Kerry: I hope your GD enjoys school. When does she start?

Mary: Hope your recovery goes well.

Rita: Is there anything fun you haven't done? You are quite the character. I'm glad you are finding time for your mom. I'm sure it is the highlight of her day.

I am getting a free composter Sunday and looking forward to making great rich soil for my garden this year. Also going to "the farm" Saturday to shovel up manure to help the process along. Every year is different as to what will grow or produce. I always start with high hopes.

Mary, I'm glad to hear your surgery is over and that it went well. Take it easy and do what the doctors say! The avocado toast sounds really good. I saw it once on someone else's plate and it looked so blah. Maybe I'll give it a try if it sounds fancied up like yours.

Sue, I would have loved to have seen the panels at the Trunk Show! They have so many cute ones. When I learned to quilt with some very skilled gals they called them "cheater cloths" and turned their noses up at them. Does your friend have a web site where I could see her quilts?

Pam, your daughter is beautiful! Blessings upon all of you!

Pat, So sorry you have the flu. I hope it doesn't last long!! I had to laugh about your jello shot. I had my first, and only one at parrothead's St. Patrick's Day parade in downtown Denver. My girlfriend and I hooked arms together and went for it. found the picture so I'll posted it for you! I haven't moved in over 20 yr so adjusting to any new home takes awhile. I cringe at the thought, unless it's all fancy and new like yours!

Welcome Sycamore 68. Best wishes for your knee surgery. I have both hips and shoulder done so I know the process well.

Donna, I love soups and your squash soup sounds so good. I just don't connect snow being in Arizona. I know better but the brain struggles with the thought! lol Enjoy that Baileys on these cold snowy nights!!

Kerry, once Aaliyah starts school, it's a whole different way of life! I know she'll enjoy it and make lots of friends. It will give you a wonderful break as well.

I have been peeking in here and reading your posts and enjoying your friendships. By the time I get on the computer I'm too tired to post. I took my Mom for a haircut on Tues between snowstorms. She had a coupon she wanted to use that expired today. I was happy to get my own hair cut while there too. Then she wanted to go to the thrift store. She had so much fun and found beautiful things she can wear to her meals and look so elegant, which she is anyway. I think she is much happier at her new place now that it's becoming more familiar.

I think my shopping and outing wore me down as that evening stepping off a curb I fell down, right on my tail bone. It was no easy thing to get up. Rex was with me and he felt so bad that I fell. He takes such good care of me. Tomorrow I go for a blood test and visit with the PA at the hematology center. I wonder what it will reveal?

This is for Pat..our jello shots!

Pat, I'm so sorry you have the flu! I hope since you did have the flu shot, it will be short-lived. Were you out and about in crowds? I often wonder how we pick these things up? I've been extremely fortunate over the years not to have had it! Stay put and rest up and let Jerry wait on you...hand and foot!! Glad you could reschedule your activities.

Sue, I had a friend drop by late yesterday to bring me some stamps that she wanted to get rid of. She put the ones I 'accepted' in my craft room and had to shove my projects out of the way to make room....I hadn't gotten around to cleaning up before the surgery since I made a few cards on Tuesday!! Maybe once I can bend over and such, I WILL clean. THen again, I will probably start another project when I see a paper I'd forgotten about! Clean up and think of me!

Kerry, I think it will be great for Aaliyah to be in school. It will give her a whole new perspective and give you a break, too. What about Aaron? How are things going at home? I think about this situation and tuck in a prayer!

Welcome, Sycamore 68. Good luck wiht the knee surgery. I broke my kneecap 6 years ago and instead of replacement, they used wires and screws. I should never have quit doing my exercises....do the squats and lunges and keep up with all your PT. Word to the wise! My right knee doesn't bend like it should and it's certainly restrictive. My own fault!

I did my drops and got into bed at 8:30. I padded the left side of the bed with a big pillow so I wouldn't roll over and mess my eye up. I have to patch it at night for a week. This morning I got up at 7:30 and used the solution that came late yesterday. It's non-irritating and I gave the seller a good review! Took long enough! My vision is much clearer today but I still have a headache over that eye...I'm sure that's to be expected. It looks like someone took a machete to my left eyeball....and that's sort of what happened! Hope it won't stay a mess for long. I go today for a recheck and Cherilyn will take me.

Mary I am glad the surgery was a success. And hopefully it will heal properly.
Sue glad the sewing room is coming together. And boy can I relate to things have to get messier before the organization works, lol.
I went to my Dr yesterday since I had some plans this week. Well everything was put on hold as I tested positive for the flu. It really hasn't been that bad I assume since I did get the flu shot but I have not left the house except to go to the doctor since Sunday. The fever has to be gone for 24 hours before I should go out and it just keeps coming back. So I cancelled my hair appointment and my lunch date with my granddaughter. But I reschulded both. I will stay home the rest of this week then I better be better, lol.

Hooray for a successful surgery, Mary.

Sometimes soon Aaliyah Will be off to school. They are using a different way of getting the kids into class. Difference than anything I've ever seen but the schools are busier than normal with the merger of 2 school counties.
It's late so I'm off to bed

Sue, this surgery was to remove a growth on my iris and eyeball that was impeding my vision. It had to be done before I can have cataract surgery in the future so I doubt that it will do anything but keep my vision from getting worse! Once I have cataract surgery I do hope it will alleviate the need for glasses. We'll see! I've had non-stop company and phone calls/texts from my sweet neighbors but I am SO tired. I will do my 8:30 drops and go to bed. I can't sleep on my stomach so I have extra pillows to pad myself so I won't turn over. Oh! And the eyelid spray finally arrived!!

Greetings Sycamore68 and Best Wishes on the knee surgery. I'm told exercise is the best medicine for knee recovery.

Mary, I'm glad your eye surgery went well. I'm sure it will take a few days for vision to return to normal. Will you have to wear glasses full time or for reading when healed? I'd love to be glasses-free again, but it doesn't look possible.

Donna, I did my squats this morning. I probably need to do 5X as many for them to do any good, but at least it's a start. Trying to work up by 10 each week.

I spent a good share of the day working on my sewing room/office in my basement. I'm sure it would look like a total mess to others, but to me I know I'm making great strides at getting organized. It's the kind of project where you have to make more mess before seeing results. But, it's getting done enough now that I'm getting excited about having a nice work space and want to get started on my sewing projects again.

Wishing you all a good evening. - S

Just a quick update! My eye surgery went well, so the doctor says. My eye has a weird double vision and I sort of lean over If I try to see out of it. I go tomorrow for a recheck. I need a nap but friends are calling and dropping by! I’m very lucky but pretty tired!

Sounds like your are working on being healthy while life goes on. Good for you.

Tomorrow I have knee replacement surgery and my fitness will consist of working on my knee. I've been doing Spark Chair Exercises and can continue those once my pain is under control.

I send my love and support to you all.

As for the quilting friend, she's way out of my league. I'm a total beginner compared to her skill level. But she is a nice lady, very welcoming and fun to chat with. She and her husband are good friends of my former boss (neighbor and good friend). In years past we socialized often with them. As the ages and stages changed, the group drifted apart. It was nice to have a chance to catch up with both of them. She is in our community's local quilt guild. It's a daytime guild (opposed to my current Gaitherburg evening guild) and I've been considering joining it. It will be nice to see at least one familiar face.

Gloomy, gray, all day fog and yukky day. Been working in my sewing room, doesn't look like I made a dent in it. But it has been fun finding things I'd forgotten I even had. Now to get busy and use all these treasures.

I've been leafing one of my cookbook collections looking for some easy, interesting items to make. I hate cooking for two, it just no fun. But I love reading cook books, learning about new foods, how recipes were developed and special stories behind favorite location or family recipes. They are also most as interesting to me as "trashy" novels. There's always something "cookin".

I'm off to jump into early rush hour traffic. I have a meeting in Gaithersburg tonight and a couple errands to do prior. I've clearly gotten used to living out here in the country and dread heading back into Montgomery County/MD-DC suburb traffic, especially during Rush Hours, which are normally almost 24/7. Shoots my whole day. - s

Good for you, Donna, getting so much done already! I'm back from Sprouts and will renew my laundry and cleaning attempts!

It never occurs to me to drink when I am frustrated. Bailey's is my friend. Mellowed me right out.

Today is mostly good. We have 3 inches of snow and had to give up all 3 outdoor activities I had planned but did clean out the closet and delivered 3 bags stuffed full of clothes to Goodwill. Fixed the lab billing problem. Fixed the flight issue. Don't care about the coffee shop thing or the breakfast thing. Back on solid ground.
I am hoping to start losing weight again. Enough of this stagnant weight.
I will make squash soup today. It is a soup kinda day.

Sorry for all the frustrations, Donna! A glass of wine does it for me! Sometimes knowing that I have a bunch of phone calls to make just wears me out before I even start calling! Hope it all gets done. I should get my eye wash today....I hope!

I will do laundry and go to Sprouts today. Kroger's fruit wasn't very pretty and I want berries and bananas while I'm 'recovering!' I have surgery at 6am so I will be up way early for me!

Mary; I hope the surgery goes well for you.

Pat: Yuck. I am so sorry you are sick. Someone should be waiting on YOU as you would for him if it was him sick. In our dreams, right?

Sue: How fun to connect with an old acquaintance and have a hobby in common.

I had a very frustrating day. I contacted several different people by text, email, or messenger and no one got back to me. I am trying to book flights and change flights and can't until I get answers. GRRRR!
The dermatologist did not order the antibiotic I need and she said she would order if I called, which I DID 5 days ago. GRRRR!
The lab copied all my medical cards when I went 3 weeks ago and the letter today said they can't bill my insurance until I give them a copy of my card. GRRRRR
I set up a breakfast at a local restaurant for my singles group and no one wants to go. GRRRRR
I tried to set up a coffee meeting for another group and the owner of the coffee house was in a meeting and never called me back so I gave up setting it up for Thursday. GRRRR
Huh, maybe I need an Irish coffee. YAH, That's what I need. I'll just drink my frustrations away.

Sue, how fun that you reconnected with the quilting friend! Hope she lives close enough to get together soon.

Pat, I’m sorry for your cold. I’ve been so fortunate not to be sick.

I got great news. First, the entire surgery is not costing me anything! And the nurse said to use my eye wipes until the spray arrivés on Tuesday! I did a big Kroger run and house work today. Tomorrow is finishing up and laundry! I won’t be s le to dive into my washer and dryer nor will I be able to do much for the first week so I ant everything ready for Wednesday!

Sue what fun toreconnect with an old friend, especially one who enjoys quilting like you do. I was a little confused on what a trunk show was and what panels are, but my sharp brain figured it had something to do with quilting, lol I hope your new old friend lives close enough so the two of you can get together.
I have one doozie of a cold that started out slow yesterday then got worse as the day progressed. I got less than three hours sleep last night so I have taken a couple naps today. I stayed home from the Y and will stay home again tomorrow. Being sick just is no fun.
I am excited for you too Pam with the baby coming in a few months. There is absolutely nothing better than no.d your new born grandchild.
Well I have to drag my sick body out to the kitchen and fix supper. Oh for a husband who wasn't so needy. Oh well it is good to get up and move.

Good Morning Sparklers. It took me forever to catch up on all your posts. I'm a bit behind. Pam, you daughter is lovely and looks very happy being pregnant. It won't be long now. How exciting.

Mary, you are like the EveryReady bunny. You are going all the time. I wish I had that much energy. I'm great at do one job and sit, then maybe do another job and sit. Mary, best wishes with your upcoming eye procedure. I'm sure you will come thru with flying colors.

Donna, I'm glad your service project (the food collection) and your self-defense class all came through without a hitch. We support several areas food banks through our church. I watch for can goods on sale to stash until the next food drive. We also have a clothing Thrift Shop, it sure comes in handy when I'm cleaning out my closets. They love clean, "gently" used clothing of all kinds.

Rita, I'm so impressed with how well your mother does at her age. I'm sure her computer brings her a lot of pleasure, connection with people and helps keep her mind active. My dad and aunt so badly wanted to enjoy using a computer but both had vision problem and also started trying to learn computer usage so late in life, they just couldn't grasp the concepts. It was disappointing to them, they both thrived on knowledge and would have loved all the information available. A friend and I went to a Trunk Show on Saturday, the presenter specialized in Panels. She had beautiful work and lots of ideas on how to embellish and use panels. On top of it, unknown to me, the presenter was a friends of mine from many years past. We had lost contact with each other and I had no idea how skilled she was at quilting and panel usage. It was fun catching up and re-igniting a friendship.

It's gray and cold and dame here in MD. No signs of snow, just rain. We had a tornado roll through our area earlier this week. It went right between us and my son's community. No damage to either of us, but it made for a couple days of active News reporting. You can see the path it took through a wooded area about a mile from us, snapped trees off like matchsticks. Fortunately, only minor damage to any affected structures.

I have a ton of things I should be doing right now. But I'd rather sit here and chat. Or maybe a nap would be nice. Until next time, have a good day ladies. - s

She will be a great mom, I'm sure, Pam!

I I moved my love seat and vacuumed under that. If I can move the big couch, I'll do that today but it will need a bigger space to move, I'm afraid. I can get my chair and ottoman resituated and get behind that, go to Kroger, and scrub the guest bath! I got an email from the seller of the eye wash...it will be TUESDAY before it arrives but he showed that he's sending 2 free bottles and they look like they are enclosed in a styrofoam package. I will call the eye surgeon this morning to report. If needed, I can buy the wipes today and use that until the eye wash comes.
