2 things keep me motivated: 1. the best way to prevent diabetes is to exercise and be at a healthy weight 2. My mother, who at 93, exercises 6 days a week-sometimes 2 a day, walks somewhere within a mile of her home for appointments.

It is definitely easier to lose weight when something is new. But sparks has lots of activities so that should help.

My sisters - one takes care of herself and the other doesn't care about making an effort to take care of herself at all. I see what happens with success and the circumstances of not taking action.

My biggest motivation is my own health -- I don't want to have health complications. My blood lab numbers must go down or I'm going to be looking at trouble. The second is just as important: my husband! I want a LONG and HEALTHY life with my Mr. Wonderful. I want to be able to things with him that are fun and adventurous and not let my health, knees, or fat body get in the way anymore.

Part of my motivation comes from not wanting to go back to hurting and being sick all of the time and part of it is how much I am enjoying all the things I can do. I have so much stamina, I usually can exercise up until midnight if I need to.

$400...Lol! My work is doing a weightloss challenge, and the prize for the winner is $400. I'm bound and determined to win. Compliments and other people noticing helps me keep going too. And definitely my husband. He is able to help motivate me with the right choices and doesn't intentionally or even unintentionally sabotage my eating habits. He's been great!

Feeling so much better on a low carb diet kept me motivated in the beginning. Then, having people notice my weight loss kept me motivated. Now, being so close to my goal does the trick. Once I hit my goal, having found something that worked for me, and was so darn easy, plus really liking what I see in the mirror will keep me going indefinitely. Being able to buy shirts in a size small last week didn't hurt, either!

Since I enjoy cooking, I endeavor to use a variety of spices, thus keeping the taste buds engaged. Also, I find by freezing my food in portion sizes ASAP after making, I have a variety of food on hand.
For exercise, I find the key thing is plugging into my music.

It's easy to be motivated at the start of something new, but what do you do to keep it going? My issue is that after a month or so, I start to slow down, get frustrated and revert to old habits. This just isn't about eating or being healthy. It seems to be a pattern in general.

So how do you keep it fresh?
