I take a full range (other than Vit.A) multivitamin with additional B range as I am still breastfeeding, so need to make sure we are both supplied with what we need.

I take B12 as I'm following a plant-based diet.

@MICHELLEXXXX - I take it in the morning. I find it to be energizing so I wouldn’t take it later in the day.

Costco sells a very inexpensive B12 supplement Kirkland brand 360 tablets for $15.99 CDN so I only need one bottle a year. If you end up taking something else look for methylcobalamin as it is the more absorbable form of B12.

Jerf, What time of day do you take your B12?

No, doc hasn’t mentioned it, but she did recommend calcium and vitamin D, so I take those.

I am not taking a B-complex, or any supplement - YET.

My doc and I are both firmly of the belief in not taking any medications (yes - supplements are "medications" in my world) unless there is a tested medical need for them. Due to my health conditions and age, I am at high risk of developing issues with properly absorbing various vitamins and minerals, so I am tested regularly to ensure that I am still maintaining healthy levels purely with food choices. If a test determines that levels are dropping and a change in foods doesn't correct that over a few months, then I will add in supplements as required.

I have tested as nutrient deficient in the past (severely low in iron, folate, and B-12, and just barely "normal" on the low end for others). I started with a couple of iron infusions and taking a B-12 supplement for a couple of months, but since then all levels have been corrected and I have been able to maintain them with food choices. Overall, I have seen a huge decrease in fatigue, mental fog, and muscle weakness since correcting the deficiencies.

If someone has a tested deficiency, then correcting it with a supplement and change in diet should show a definite improvement in how they feel. I haven't seen any studies showing a reason to take a supplement without a tested need for it, and spending money on taking a supplement of water soluble vitamins (which will just be flushed out of the body as unnecessary) seems like a rather silly way to waste money to me.

Sir Terry Pratchett: "Science is not about building a body of known 'facts'. It is a method for asking awkward questions and subjecting them to a reality-check, thus avoiding the human tendency to believe whatever makes us feel good."

"The Inuit Paradox" ( discovermagazine.com/2004/oct/inuit-
paradox
): "...there are no essential foods—only essential nutrients. And humans can get those nutrients from diverse and eye-opening sources. "

I don't. I wouldn't be bothered to do so unless my Dr recommended it.

The main recommendations for using it are
Poor Diet
Alcoholism
Pregnancy
certain health conditions

My husband was prescribed them - he was an alcoholic who also had Crohn's Disease.

The best time to take them is in the morning after waking .... on an empty stomach.

I don't need to, so I don't.
Does your bloodwork suggest you should be taking it?

I take a B-12 spray. Doctor recommended it. I don't notice a difference but I'm sticking with it.

Yes, at my doctors recommendation.
