I too have been diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty liver disease. Mine was due to the fact that my sugar became out of control and was very high for over a year, In my case, the liver became swollen and I had severe pain in the upper right abdomen.

I got my sugar down, and I am eating right and exercising daily and it seems to be reversing. Don't be depressed...you can beat this

You can do this. It will take some time to make changes but it can be done.

Thankfully, it can be slowed and possibly even reversed. Knowledge is power. I, too, encourage you to work with a Registered Dietitian.

Below is a link to Mayo Clinic that you should find quite helpful:

I strongly urge you to ask your Dr for a referral to a Registered Dietitian to help you achieve your goals, taking into account your Fatty Liver Disease as well as any other health issue that you may have.

Take care, and good luck,
Kris

ONETHM,

Don't worry ! With a healthy diet, non alcoholic fatty liver disease IS reversible !!

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with a fatty liver. He took the diagnosis as a wake up call to change the way he eats. Per his doctor recommendation, he started eating more servings of fresh fruit and veggies and cut back on saturated fat (he swapped steamed or stir fry for deep fried foods).

If he eats out with family, he orders broccoli or steamed veggies as a side instead of French fries. No more chicken parm subs or dinners. He now eats a salad for lunch 3-4 times a week. He's slowly incorporating more veggies with every meal. He's eating fruit for snacks. In the past three weeks, he's lost about 5-7 pounds.

You can too !

Just start with some simple changes. Example, if you aren't eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you eat fries with meals, swap the fries for some steamed veggies or a side salad. Make a yummy leafy green salad for lunch 2-3 times a week.

There are lots more simple things you can do to make your day and your meals more healthy.

Hippocrates said it best,"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food".

In need of prayers, health is suffering due to weight. Found out I have fatty liver disease :( I know that my diet is a big part to blame. Feeling really scared right now.
