MARJORIE5, You can go to the 'technical help' forum and post your problem there and one of the coaches will settle it for you. That's what they did for me; I live in Europe too.
You can then use sparkmail and you will receive notifications of new blog posts if you subscribe to blog posts, and you'll know when you got a goodie, and you will get notified if someone replies to a blog post you made.
However, you will not receive notifications of new posts on threads on the forums, which does make it very difficult to follow a topic. This also makes it nearly impossible to be a good team leader on SP.

If you prefer to use a Dutch site you could try 'weegclub.nl'. Not the same as SP but it may be helpful.

Hi. I posted here and got a spark mail, but I can't reply. I have to verify my email first, but in order to do that I have to uncheck a box that says that I don't want to receive mail. But it also says that they don't send to people in the EU. And that's where I live. So I can't uncheck the box. So I guess I can't communicate here then.

Hello,

I'm on day 5 of the pink book and think that having a coach to be accountable to would be a great thing.

I'm 53, have struggled with my weight most of my adult life and am feeling very encouraged by approaching this from a mind set angle rather than just food.

If there is someone available to be my coach I would be most appreciative.

I have been a Beck coach (pink book), although I don't have all the answers. I think of myself more like a Beck buddy (out of the green book/blue book). I have lost 80 pounds and kept it off for 10 years as of March 17, 2018. I still struggle with intermittent overeating. I love Beck and understand the concepts pretty well.


I prefer Beck buddies who are willing to check in with each other daily. That has consistently worked out better for me and the people I am supporting.

Help I need a coach/buddy. DH is NOT an option, he is part of the problem!

If you are looking for a diet coach or accountability buddy, post here what kind of partnership you desire, eg. email or phone, weekly or daily contact.

Also, if you are willing to be the diet coach for a team member, please post here too!

I am now on day 12 practice hunger.I have questions. should I just go look up past conversations? or can I ask Here?

Like my hunger is not too bad as long as I am fasting but when I start to eat that might be another story ekkk ! I'm afraid I might over do it.

Hopeful, don't get discouraged....baby steps...as long as you are heading in the right direction, you are doing well. Keep at it. We all have our days when we make mistakes, but the key is to get right back on track, and not compound the mistake with more mistakes. If you need help with situations, like others resenting the changes, post your issue on the Daily Grind and others will help based on their own experiences, and can direct you to which day deals with it in the pink book, and you can check out the link for that Day and see other team members' comments, or may be able to give you advice from one of the other Beck books, like the blue book. If you need help figuring out where to click for things, or how to use the Spark tools, just ask. We are all willing to help. I totally agree with Kriszta's suggestion that pre-planning your food for the day cuts down on the time that your mind spends thinking about food. Another thing that is helpful if you want to stop thinking about food all the time, is to not eat anything between meals (provided you don't have a medical condition that requires you to eat). It seems like a hard thing to do, but it actually isn't that hard, and when you get used to it you will find that you hardly think about food at all during the day. Good luck!

Thinking of food all the time is really annoying,
I find that planning in advance makes it better,
it I have plan, I tend to not think of food between meals- it is all set!

I am thankful for the support. I am working on attitude. This weekend was not very good. This is all very time consuming. When I diet I think about food all the time even if I am not hungry. The planning what to eat when and how prepare it. Also challenging is how to deal with people around me that are not dieting and resent this change in their life.
I usually manage 2 weeks and .....well
I know I need a coach but I am not ready for this yet
one bright note. I did better today food wise (Good Job) i guess ??

I am slowly figuring out this web sight I'm computer illiterate. I came to spark people because I found the (pink) Beck book. I believe this Beck Solution will help me change a lot of bad habits.
I do not even use Facebook so this is all very new. Please bear with any mistakes. Maybe I should read the Whole book before I really begin. the idea of a coach is intimating and I have stopped and started exercise programs more than I like to remember.

I want/need a buddy. I am skilled at lying to myself and using the "just this once" phrase (which I already made a response card for!) to justify my eating. I have had success in losing weight in the past, so I have the skills I need, so I know how to support others pretty well. I need someone that expects me to practice those skills in my own eating.

Hi, and welcome to my favorite program. Though I struggle at times keeping the program going. I am 68 and have a LONG history of bad habits to retrain. I do however see it working. I would be willing to be a coach. I need a coach as well. I use my sister however she isn't available most of the time. I am retired so totally available to coach. We can do the email through Spark if you want. Or we can exchange actual emails. I am currently doing the workbook. I just finished doing the book with the group here. I also have the Beck "green book" however it is different and lays out a diet plan that I am not a fan of. I would rather do my own thing and record things here on Spark. Let me know what you think.

I am just starting the Beck Diet for the first time. According to the book I need to have a coach. I can't think of any family or friends at the moment that I want to ask to do this, so I'm reaching outside my comfort zone and asking if there's anyone here that wants to coach me? Or is it ok to partner with another person that's going through the book too? I'm probably looking to do more through email or messaging instead of calling...just seems easier. Thanks!

I'm in the UK and I would love a diet coach to keep in touch via whatsapp or regular text daily ideally.
I've tried working through the book a few times and always fallen off around day 14.

Is there anyone else in the UK here? I noticed someone posting their weight in stones & thought that's a measurement only us Brits use !

I'm looking for a coach to help me learn the ways of Beck and to be successful in losing weight and later in maintenance. The number of times we contact each other can be arranged according to what we each feel is best.

I go to the gym at least 3 times a week and hope to get back into walking even if it is the treadmill or elliptical at the gym!!

I would love to have a coach before the next review of the Pink Book, which is October 1/17

Looking for an accountability partner who would be OK with texting or e-mail...

I work in a big cube farm, go to school at night, and help my elderly parents on the weekend-- I'm finding it's not a schedule that's conducive to phone calls this semester (Fall 2017). But I am responsive electronically.

I am working through the Beck Pink book and am on Day 18 today (9/5/2017), but would be willing to start discussing it over again at Day 1 if that is where you are at. I am following the SparkPeople Diabetic Food Plan, tracking on the SP App as my diet and commit it each day to a coach here in the Beck Forum.

Hi there! I'm looking for a Beck Diet Coach! Starting a new job June 20th. I'm re-reading the book again. My issues are emotional eating, feeling exhausted so i order take out, not make my lunch, skip evening workouts because I'm tired. I joined Spark mid April. Hi! My name is Donde. I have been on Spark People for 7 years. I got down to my goal weight a couple years ago, but allowed myself to gain 15 of it back. I am trying to eat better again but I am struggling. I work out 7 days a week and I do lighter workouts at least one day a week. I have tried to eat right but of course I'm not perfect. I feel since I am in my 40's and going through the start of Menopause that it does hinder my weight going back down a little bit, but I think some advice would be truly helpful. Hi Beckers!!

I would like to have a Sparkfriend to exchange ideas with and to encourage and support one another. The number of times we contact each other can be arranged according to what we each feel is best, keeping in mind that either of us may need extra encouragement from time to time or during crunch periods like Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving etc.

I am a retired 68 year old female living in Western Canada (Alberta), 2 x married, all children married with children of their own. Several grandchildren!!

Go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week at least and love to walk. DO NOT run.

Live on a small ranch, love the outdoors and am addicted to sweets. I like to believe I have a good sense of humor mostly although hubby might believe otherwise!!

I think the best way to contact each other initially would be Spark Mail and then we can decide after what works best.

Hi, all! (Thank you, KRISZTA11!!!)

I'm looking for a diet coach to check in with daily, at least for the next few/several weeks while I get back into the swing of things, maybe going to weekly check-ins afterward. I've had great success in the past, but have been struggling quite a bit since around September.

I'm open to communicating via any medium: SparkMail, e-mail, SMS/text, IM. It would be nice for phone to be an option in the long term, maybe for a weekly check-in or for emergencies, if we were to click, but not most of the time just because my schedule is usually pretty crazy.

I'm more than happy to be a diet coach myself! Either to my own diet coach or to someone else.

Day 6 of the Beck Diet Solution (pink) book tells us to find a diet coach.
If you are looking for a diet coach or accountability buddy, post here what kind of partnership you desire, eg. email or phone, weekly or daily contact.

Also, if you are willing to be the diet coach for a team member, please post here too!

Remember: dr. Beck tells us to be in contact at least weekly plus when extra support or advice is needed, and to share weigh loss progress, successes and struggles.

Goal weight:
58 +- 1 kg /// 128 +-2 pounds

Maintenance Lessons Learned:
-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings
