If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit.

We bought an 1836 home and put on a huge addition as it was a tiny farm house !

Hi Cindy,

Are you doing all this work yourself? This sounds like a great project. One of my New Years resolutions is taking the time to work on the house myself. We moved in 1.5 yrs ago and I have been so busy with work school and family that I haven't really had a chance to do much. Taking time for the house includes being more active on this forum LOL.
Welcome and make sure you let us know how things are going!

Glad you are here Cindy! I really admire what you are doing! We have a Habitat for Humanity ReStore here that is a great place to hunt up things to "de-modernize" with. Not 1800's, but my home looks strange if I put "new" things in it. I like eclectic and enjoy the "hunt".

I was a member of SP a few years ago, and now I have returned after buying a cute 1850's house! I love it, and the things I want to do are to de-modernize it if that makes sense? They went way too far with it in the 80's, and I need to bring it a bit back...to antique looking!! Because it is an antique house!! I am starting by replacing fixtures as I can with aged bronze or brass, the darker period looking things anyway! I also hope to bring the other things moe in line with the period as they need replacing. I have a wonderful whirlpool tub but it is totally 80s! I will replace it with a clawfoot replica with jets!
