I have been lifetime on WW for say almost 9 years. Life happened along the way, and I 'fell off the wagon'. I am having no problem with SF, but, OP is a different story! With just hubby and I and an active lifestyle, it's hard.

Am looking for stable food that he'll like too..

Hello
I am new to this group and I'm more determined now than ever to start a Healthy Lifestyle. I have gone to WW meetings before never stayed really stayed with the program. I never really understood how to count calories and stick to a good plan. However I know WW is very effective in losing weight because I have seen the success of others. I would like to start by learning new recipes and learning how to cook healthy. I am also looking forward to meeting new friends and getting new ideas from everyone. emoticon

I am glad you have joined the team. It is possible to work the plan on your own with the correct information and tools. I hope you will find this site a valuable resource. Not all meetings are the same, and although research indicates that those with a support group are most successful at losing and maintaining their goals there are many avenues of finding the support and accountability often needed. The team is composed of individuals with a great deal of collective insight which they readilly share. Our leader knows the WW program well. Any comments or suggestions welcome.
Looking forward to knowing you better. emoticon

Welcome. We do have delicious healthy recipes.
if you go to our team's top sticky topic called "How to find our team's recipes", you'll see that one of the food categories is CORE recipes. There are other food categories that most will be CORE, as "Bountiful legums and Grains'.

I'm so glad that you're following the Core plan. I do too, but with combination with the SFT (simply filling technique) of the new PointsPlus plan, which is alsmot the same as CORE.

Good luck and best wishes

Mimi

Hello everyone. I hope it's okay to join this team even though I may not visit the website as often as I should. I apologize upfront for my lack of motivation and infrequent use of SP. I am on other teams too, and rarely visit them :(

I am hoping to change my way of eating/cooking. Currently my husband and I eat mostly meats, fast foods, and way too much sugar. I admit to being a sugar addict and lazy about cooking...my problem. I really could use some easy recipes that are relatively healthy and maybe I can start cooking again as I did many years ago.

Thank you for allowing me to join and again I am sorry if I don't get on here often...I will try harder..depression is one reason I struggle with this.

hi healthy cookers!! This is my 3rd week on WW, my first week was I hate to say "awesome", I lost 5 lbs but last week gained 2.4 back..this week I've been struggling getting back on track, I think our minds can be our worst enemy, but caring for my son who doesn't feel well these last 2 days made me think why don't I take care of myself ?? So I set some new goals for myself that I believe are achievable & look forward to cooking up some new recipes for my family. emoticon

Hi. I have joined SP in the hope that I can find a healthier lifestyle and manage to lose permanently my overweight. I did WW for a year and half and managed to lose 18lbs but then it stopped and plateaued. Then my Mum died in September and I couldn't push myself to continue. I don't really want to pay to join again but I have loads of information and hope that I can achieve it through myself and the help of Spark People friends. emoticon emoticon

Mimi is the one who really knows the point system. I have always used the old exchange program.
However, sometimes it is necessary to "tweak" your diet a bit in order to meet your needs. When I have difficulties getting in the appropriate number of calories to meet my nutritional needs (this is extremely important) I go to the more calorie dense foods. For example, if you are following the plan choose items like nuts, whole grains, peanut butter even whatever fits, adds nutriton and keeps you in a healthy calorie range. It is my understanding the points alloted account for an individual's nutritional needs.
I hope you find your answers soon. This is something I, too struggle with, particularly as my lifestyle changes.

We have some members along with Mimi, who will be able to provide you with some ideas in addition to your leader perhaps.

Best wishes and am interested in what you find out.
Have a nice evening! emoticon

Thank you for your kind words. I consider myself a Co-Leader, like the rest of us leaders.
Or better said, we are all leaders!
Each of us, the leaders, have contributed a lot to our team at one point or another.
The only difference between me and the other leaders is that I'm the founder of this team. That's all. I appreciate every Leader we have or have had.
Look how much you contribute to th team. Amazing job!!!

We couldn't have done it without having wonderful supportive members. Thank you all.

Have a wonderful day

Welcome to our team. We're determined to reach our goals, whatever they're.

W8W has a very smart idea. When a W8W member reaches his/hers 5% of the weight they want to lose, they get a reward.
It used to be 10%, butchanging it to 5% seems more achievable.

May I suggest that you'll change your ticker... instead of seeing there 72 pounds you want to lose, you can show the first 5% of the weight you WILL lose. That way it's not overwhelming.

5 % of 70 pounds (I rounded it up for easier calculations) is 3.5 pounds to lose.
Deosn't it soundes great? You can focus on losing only 3.5 pounds.
We'll definitely award you with a gold cup when you accomplish it.

If your ticker will show that you want to lose 3.5 pounds, you'll start to feel very positive, because you know you CAN lose 3.5 pounds.

Would you like to try it?

After that, you can set another goal. It can be again 5 %, or 10%. it's up to you.

Always do what works for you the best. This is just a suggestion....

Good luck and now is a good time to start your journey.
Mimi

Ok - here we go - my introduction. I have fought this battle all of my life with every type of weight loss program imaginable - other than having my mouth wired shut and don't think I didn't consider it - - - I've done atkins, south beach, drugs, gastric bypass, liquid diet - - all are great - actually they consider me a success with the bypass because i had lost 125 pounds(this was llike 9 years ago) and am still at that weight give or take 15 pounds. But -- I plateaud and was too lazy to exercise to continue to lose weight until I reached my goal - - I need to lose about 60-70 pounds - and I am so afraid that it won't happen. I rejoined weight watchers and sp because it helped in the past - - - please oh please let this be the one success so that i don't have to live the other 1/2 of my life fat like the first 1/2. I will try to get online a few times a week if not more and would love some buddies to support/motivate each other - if you are interested please send me a message. I just started exercising and an am asthmatic -- which my doctor told me yesterday now has bronchitis - - so I have to wait a few days for the drugs to kick in so Im not breathing through what feels like gel in my lung - - left lung is very congested and I can't tolerate cardiac - - sorry this sounds so down but I've hit the bottom and only have up to look forward too - - guess I'm asking for help and promise to help in return - - thanks for listening.

Hi everyone, I am a former W.W. lifetime member. Years ago I lost 103 Lbs. and slowly over the years put it back on. Since finding Spark in April last year I have been following a balanced diet and faithfully tracking my calories. I have almost reached my halfway goal.
I saw this team on someones page and thought I would join to expand my recipe collection. I am the owner of a small restaurant and I love to cook and try new recipies. This team has what I have been searching for for a while now, and I am looking forward to sharing thoughts and ideas.

Hi Everyone, My name is Sandy and I am new to spark as I started in Oct of 2009. I use to be a member of WW but not anymore. I have all the new books and point clicker so I am doing it on my own. My total weight loss has been good I lost over 96 lbs so far.I thought I'd join your team for more support and help. I do exercise 5-6 days a week and I watch my portions and trying to stay within my daily points which is 29. It hasn't been easy cause I either go under my points or I go way over. So yes I do need more help. I am taking one day at a time and I will reach my goal weight which is 140. I am married to my wonderful hubby Lance of 10 years and counting,We have 7 kids ranging from ages 18,9,7,6,5,3,2.We also have 2 dogs,2 cats,2 birds and 1 snake. We all live in Apple Valley,Ca. I am glad to be here and I hope to met others...Sandy

We are glad you have joined us regardless of your reasons. We are all on a journey to become healthier. I have always believed that WW was one of the most nutritiously sound programs, although I grew up with it. I do not follow the plan myself as I have always used the orighinal exchange program and altered it to fit my special needs. Whatever works for an individual, and there is no one plan fits all, is great. There are many healthy recipes which will help you keep better track. The members of this team have a great deal of collictive knowledge and insight. Our leader Mimi is familiar with the new plan if you ever have questions.
Looking forward to getting to know you better. It is always good to learn new things from others on this journey through their comments and suggestions. emoticon

Hi all, I thought I'd join your team because although I'm not attending Weight Watchers meeting now I have before. I reached my "Gold" weight 7 years ago. I then met my husband, the love of my life and the weight crept back on & more. I was eating the same portions as him which for a woman is too much, plus all the chocolates he bought me. So I'm back to weighing my food and writing down everything that passes my lips. As I've already got all the booklets & points calculator I shall be using the old points system. It worked before so there's no reason why it shouldn't this time.
I'm looking upon this as a journey, taking one month at a time and aiming to be lighter at the end of each month than I was at the beginning.
Good luck to you all on your "Journey" I hope you reach it without too many set backs along the way.

Hi everyone. I like to make my own meals. I'm at my goal range and I'd like to lose a little more so going to a weigh in is not an issue.
I make vegetarian meals.
Nice to meet you.

Mimi,
I, too, find the healthy empahsis of diabetic cooking
a good way to plan meals. Just as in the Weight Wathcher's plan anything goes as long as it is incoporated into your daily meal plan.

That's fantastic that Spark is working now on meals for diabetics.
I think that the diabetic diet is wonderful. Lower on carbs, using good carbs, low on fat, sodium and cholesterol. High on fiber.
I buy in purpose diabetic cookbooks (on great sale), because I want to eat healthier.
My latest book I bought is the bible of diabetics by armsrong and King.
I'm not diabetic or pre-diabetic, but love the healthy diabetic foods and the fact that they look at everything, not just carbs, fat, fiber and protein.

I'm looking forward to have these meals on SparkPeople.

Welcome to our new members.

Welcome to the team! You will find a great deal of support and collective wisdom. As a matter of fact I joined Spark 4 years ago as a result of type 2 diabetes. There are many resources, and Spark is now working on a meal plan for diabetes.
Looking forward to any comments you may have.
Please feel free to post any questions or suggestions.

Teresa
