Hi all! Skyy here, heard about SP from a neighbor and her Dr. My Hubby & I signed up, she didn't. Looking to give and receive encouragement when needed. SAHM of two boys and learning to appreciate my time at home with them before they grow too fast. emoticon Hoping to shed these pound and learn more about food and myself. Imagine, we've been eating healthy all this time, just not enough intake! Go figure

Hello,

My name is Mickayla. I am a stay at home mom of 3, ages 7, 5, and 6 months. After my 2nd was a year old I lost a lot of weight (120lbs) Within 2 years I had gained it all back again. I am trying this again, hoping to be a healthful example to my kids. I don't want them growing up with the same problems I have.

Hello everyone,

My name is Kim. I have a 16yo daughter, and custody of my 13yo neice.

Ok, I started working out on the 8th, and been doing pretty good. Today in lue of working out I have been scrubbing the kitchen floor since about 10AM. There was something all over it when we moved in and just to "lazy" to get on top of it and get it taken care of.

I am trying really hard to give myself a new outlook on life and hopefully the weight will just come off.

Hello Everyone,

I am new here and just stopping by to introduce myself. My name is Sheila and I live in Maine. I have 2 teenage sons. I am a freelance writer who is also looking for wor out of the home, which is hard when you live in the country and your car is broken.

I am happy I have found this team. It is not always easy to find one that has active members. It looks like you have a lot of different challenges going on here and I hope to join a few.

Hello! I just joined and I'm so happy to be here! I gained weight working long 12 hour shifts in a sedentary job. I have a lot to lose but I try not to think about what has happened. I am focusing on how to make things right again. I turn 36 next month... the years are flying by and I finally have the courage and determination to get myself back together. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hello. I just joined tonight and wish I had found this place years ago! I'm 37 years old and have been overweight all my life. I'm sick of it, plain and simple. I have 2 kids, aged 13 and 7 and will celebrate my 17th anniversary on the 30th. My 20th high school reunion is next year and I wanna go back looking fantastic! More importantly, I'm tired of not being able to play with my kids. Nice to meet ya!

Happy Friday!

This is day 5 of Sparkin for me and I decided to join a few teams.

After my divorce, I turned to eating and more eating. I'm a few months away from turning 35 and recently returned to college. I've decided that I am too young to live behind a wall of fat and that it's time to take care of myself physically and emotionally. By the time I turn 38, I would like to have participated in my first triathlon and want to give a whole new meaning to "Fabulous By Forty."

Time for change and to let the healing begin.

Have a great weekend and thank you for reading,
~Mel

Hi - My name is Barbara and I am trying SP again. I used SP three years ago, but was just not ready for anything close to a commitment. Yesterday was the 8 year anniversary of my father's death -- which was an event that devastated me. I have gained 85 pounds since his passing. Now, I did quit smoking almost 4 years ago (Oct 26), and that contributed significantly as well. This morning I woke up and decided that, at 39, I am tired of walking three blocks and needing to sit down....I am tired of teaching at night and, after 75 minutes, I am so winded I can't help my students...I am tired of not fitting into booths at restaurants....I am tired of buying pants that, quite frankly, are embarrassing to purchase.

I have decided that, beginning today, I am making a three year commitment to myself -- As much as I would love to lose the 150 pounds that I need to lose (that is a whole human being), I am committing to myself to do one thing each day that contributes to a healthier me. I know that this commitment will bring some weight loss, but I am truly more interested in being able to walk without a struggle....

Although I am scared to do this....I know in my head (and in my heart), I have to.

So, I am starting this journey with many today...and joining with others who have already been skipping ahead. I am hoping that this will be the greatest 1,100 days of my life! (I know that sounds cheesy, but three years is about 1,100 days....I think I need to make a paper chain and use it as a visual for my goal).

My name is Krista and I'm new to sparkpeople. Since the birth of my twins, I have focused so much of my time on them and not enough time on my health. In reality, I have struggled with my weight for years and often yo yo. I have been working out with the Firm and watching my caloric intake and have lost 42 pounds the past few months. I still have a LONG way to go and hope I can find that added support to keep going. I want to live long and have a healthy life for my boys!!!! By the way, has anyone ever tried "The Wave" by The Firm?

HELLO!!!!!!!! I'm Heather and I'm new to spark. A bunch of wonderful ladies that I hang out with have a group on here and talked me into it. I'm glad they need. None of them have the same significant amount of weight to lose.
I want to get the confidence I had when I was younger. Ohhh, to be the same fat I thought I was at 18.
I'm not sure when I started putting my health and body last on my list of priorities, but I'm stopping that now!
Thanks in advance for your support!
First up, GET MOVING! My first Dodgeball game is tonight! :)

Hi and welcome to the group. I understand the fear of the scale, but its important you face it so you know where you are in your journey and you can hold yourself accountable. Its great to place it on a tracker that you see here and you can see howe much weight you have lost. Good luck

Welcome Amy & Darcy!!

Darcy - Fitting in exercise is always tough. Try doing it in smaller bouts. You don't have to do it all at once. Try for 5 or 6 times of day for 10 minutes. It all adds up! Park your car farther away when going places. Dance in place while cooking and other things. Just keep yourself moving! You can do it!!!

Amy - First of don't step on the scale more than once a week. You weight will change day to day, so you want to keep at least a week in between each weighing. Also take your measurements. Sometimes the numbers on the scale might not move, but your measurements will. As you tone up, you will see your measurements decrease! Just take it one day at a time. You can do this!!!

Hi Katrina, I definitely understand how you feel. I myself am getting back on the wagon so to speak. I do most of my shopping at Aldi and Walmart for the simple fact that I'm working with a tight budget and I have to feed a family of four. The best advice I can give is to shop the perimeter first, pick up your fresh fruits and veggies, meats, dairy, etc and then hit the aisles for anything else you may need. I read labels like crazy avoiding partially hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup as much as possible. You also may want see if there's a local market close to you. I know around here I get amazing deals on produce and fresh meat from the local stores... better even than a retail giant like Walmart. Also, I found that when I plan what meals I'm going to cook its better too. Anytime I'm lazy and don't figure out what to cook, off to get some take out we go and there goes the diet! Naturally eating out is fine, but if you try to eat at home more then you can better control the quality of food that you're eating. Weight Watchers has some good cook books with tasty recipes. Hope this helps. :)

Hi everyone! I'm Darcy, 37 years old. I'm new to the site and still feeling it out, but I'm excited! I'm a Mom to 5 great boys and each pregnancy brought with it a few more pounds. What I really want is to get to a place where I feel energetic. I do have a hard time fitting exercise into my regular routine. I am homeschooling my 2nd grader this year and Fall is a super busy time for us.

Hi! My name is Amy and I am 30 years old. I have a lot of work to do and have always felt too overwhelmed to actually do something. I have to do something now thought because I want to get pregnant and am also just tired of being out of shape! I really like how this website sets small goals that I really feel like I can achieve! One thing I need some help on is how to get over the fear of the scale. I would like to keep track of my weight to celebrate successes. I am afraid that if I get on the scale and see that huge number, I will feel so overwhelmed and just give up. Just thinking about it makes me really nervous.

Hi KATRINAN35, welcome to the team! You have already taken the first step in getting healthier, you are here!! I know it might not be the best, but you might find you have to visit a couple different stores. It is what i end up having to do. I eat sugar free oatmeal (I am a diabetic and need to watch my carbs) but the store i normally shop at does not carry it. So I find myself having to go extra places to pick things up. Which in a way can be a good thing, especially if you use it for a little extra exercise. Park far away so you have to walk farther and do a lap of the store even if you are only there for one thing.

If the exercise is too much for you, start out small. Try doing it in 10 minute bursts. See how many of those you can do a day!!

Again Welcome to the team and good luck!!

Hello, my name is Kim, I am a 36 yr old single mom of a 12yr old boy. I have severe sleep apnea and now a few female issues. I am so tired of being overweight Ive decided to take charge and get rid of it. I want to be able to sleep without a machine (how romantic is that) and not be so tired all the time. I've got to start setting a good example for my son since I see him following down my bad road.
I have started weight watchers but its and up and down battle with the meds Ive been on. So hopefully after my surgery on Oct 5 I can be on the down hill slopes from now on.

Hello,

I have suffered from gaining weight ever since I started having children. I am 34 years old, and I weight 234lbs and I want to weight 125lbs. I was skeptical to keep trying the spark people program, and things came up that cause me to quit for a while. I believe I need some help choosing proper fitness goal days, and I am having issues buying the food provided by the site. I really need motivation from a team to help me stay wanting to lose weight and not getting side tracked from receiving my goal. I would appreciate help with exercise days that work for others, and help with the nutrition. I believe some places I shop, like Wal-mart does not acquire the proper nutrition I need. Could anyone help with some suggestions, and thanks in advance.

Hi all!!! Let me start by saying Im a 37 yr. old obese Taking My Life BACK!!! I have tried many diet plans and workout regimens and all have failed. At one point I felt like this was a no win situation for me. I finally came to realize that being overweight is the same as someone being addicted to drug or alcohol. My drug of choice was FOOD!!! Nothing was going to change for me until I hit MY rock bottom..... And I DID!!! On June 21, 2010 I decided that I wanted to LIVE!!! That is the day that changed my life. Since that day I have lost a total of 73 lbs. That was 3 months ago! My starting weight was 467lbs. and now Im 394. My actual goal is 190 lbs. All I can say is one day at a time!!!

Hello! My name is Roxana, I'm married and a mom of two beautiful children. I just joined on Tuesday. I'm so proud of myself because for the first time in a very long time I exercised yesterday! Woo hoo!! I'm super sore today, but that's OK. I have about 125lbs to lose. I'm determined to stick with it and get healthy again. :)

Hello Everyone! I am a 34 year old mom to two beautiful healthy and active boys! It's a wonder I am not in much better shape because of them! lol

I used to be in great shape...in fact most of my life I was in great shape. Athletic, active, etc...I love soccer, yoga, and defensive kickboxing (not taebo etc...true kickboxing)...then I suffered a strong injury in my mid twenties to my ankle. It took a long time just to heal from the initial trauma and then I had a very high risk pregnancy that put me on bedrest for the entire pregnancy. Needless to say, I got out of the habit of healthy living and am paying the price for it now.

I am determined to get back to that life...I understand I have to be patient but driven and I am both of those things (driven more than patient...but I digress). I joined SP to help have a way to hold myself accountable for what I eat, drink, and do...

I look forward to getting to know you all very soon!

Hi! I found Sparkpeople last year and have tried the C25K program before but I'm finally getting serious about everything. I'm married and have 3 kids. I'm also working 2 jobs. Needless to say it is VERY hard to fit exercise in but I'm determined to make it work somehow someway. I'm setting my sight on running a 5K in December so I know there is a goal for the end of this program. I've never gotten past week 2 before but with the support of this team I'm sure I'll make it!

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday!!! My name is Anny. I am 32 years young from Western NY. I live between Rochester and Buffalo. I had LAPBAND weight loss surgery June 28, 2010. I have lost a total of 69 pounds so far. I had an appointment today with my doctor. Had a 2cc fill in my lapband putting me at 6.5 cc's. My Doctor's assistant (also his wife) suggested this site to me. SO I am new to this site and to this group. I shall update my profile with pictures when I return home from work this evening! Its great to be apart of something so good!!

Hello! I'm new to SparkPeople. Well, I signed up in March because I was curious to see what it was all about. But now, I'm ready to get serious and wished I would have started then. I'm getting married next year to a great guy and have an awesome 13yr old son. I also have a soon-to-be 10yr old stepson. I had lost 90 lbs before I met my fiance. But I just got too comfortable and gained it all back. I striving to loose that and more this time. I am also determined to keep it off. So far, I have gotten a lot of encouragment from some of the people on here. I think this program will help me reach my ultimate goal.

Hi everyone! My name is Alicia. I'm married to a wonderful man and we have a beautiful daughter. I've lost a bunch of weight in the past before I had my daughter and I have since gained it all back and then some. I've been trying to lose weight for a while now and haven't had much success. I've heard a lot about SparkPeople and thought I'd give it a try. I am hoping that being able to talk with people who know what I am going through and understand will be able to help me stay on track.

Hi, I joined sparkpeople last year and quit after a couple of weeks. I am really trying to meet some new goals this time and want to stick around. So far, I've quit smoking and let go of soda...

Hi everyone,

My name is Kambria. I have been on Spark before years ago and loved it and all it had to offer. I am back now, hoping to lose 122 lbs by September of next year when my daughter gets married.
I am 37 and have two grown daughters, and a granddaughter.
I just signed up with our local AnyTime Fitness, and I really hope to stay motivated and make some great goals along the way to my ultimate goal.

Good day! I have been on Spark for nearly 2 years now, I just left my 20's team cause unfortunatly that 30 is a reality now, for almost 3 weeks...I have little time to be active in other teams cause my house, job and trying to get to the gym are priorities. I used to have a job that I could do Spark at work but no longer, so the little time I have I try to stay on top of my team I am a leader for. But I have arrived here now! Portland,OR.

Hi everyone. I joined here once before and did not have much success, but I feel more motivated now, so I am going to give it another go. I am 30 and I want to lose exactly 100 pounds, but more importantly I want to completely change my lifestyle to gain good health. I have gained almost all of my extra weight in the last 5 years due to lack of excercise and eating too much and eating late at night, so I hope I can lose it again if I can return to my old lifestyle of eating healthier and excercising every day. I wish you all the best of luck and good health.

Hello all, my name is Shelley, I'm 32, a mom, wife and student. I've been heavy most of my life but this is the heaviest I have ever been. I'm ready for a change. I'm tired of being the Mom who watches while everyone else has fun. I'm tired of feeling bad and looking worse. I'm excited about this journey and I REFUSE to quit this time! Please add me as a friend. I need all the support I can get!!! Thanks! emoticon

I'm not new to Spark, but I haven't been back for a long time. I've battled with my weight my whole life and had it somewhat under control until I got married. After I got married I've steadily gained weight and have probably gained around 75lbs. Next year we want to start a family, so losing the lbs. is a must.

Hi! My nickname is Tashgirl & I've been on this weight loss journey since May '09. I've lost up to 93 lbs but gained 5 back when I stopped going to the gym opting for hm workouts just couldn't be consistent, so I'm back @ the gym & looking for a good support team. So thanks in advance for your support.
