Sorry to hear that, we have been fortunate that David is extremely intelligent, and he has the ability to do good, but getting him focused is hard because he lives 2.5 hours away with his father. I hope it works out the best for you and your son, and know that you have done a good job.

Cannon is not mentally high functioning. He has to many behaviors. He is smart but not as smart as bill gates or others that have made it into the world and have overcome. I pray he does overcome someday. He is diagnosed as PDD-NOS Pervasive Development Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified.

He does not fit the autism spectrum
Not the ADHD
Not this Not that

They cannot figure him out. Foods really have an effect on him which is why he gets meat and veggies. He gets a vitamin to supplement the other things he is missing by not eating certain foods like fruit.

I wish Cannon would be able to make decisions on his own but he can't. Cannon is hitting and working with a behaviorist is not helping. The medication do not help. When we took him totally off it he was wonderful for 3 weeks then it hit the fan. NOT FUN.

Thanks for the info. We have tried the Gluten Free way but there are so many Gluten free foods he cannot have. So just meat and Veggies. Sigh. The behaviors are getting to where he pulls hair and kicks you and slaps you without reason. God is good tho, Jenny

My son is High Functioning but have never considered a Group Home, he is off medications and we are experimenting with Gluten Free, and he has been doing this on his own and has been feeling better, so we are confident that Gluten is a good thing to take out of his diet, and sugar also needs to be removed but taking it one step at a time. He is 19 and lives with his father and trying to get him back in college he also has a IQ of 147 which is in the top 5% of people and he has the ability to do research and would like to see him some environment where he could be happy researching.

Hi everyone, My son has autism high functioning speaks, walks interacts with people but he has issues, and he picks up everyone bad habits. Why not the good? Just the bad. Bites himself screeches I am sure some of you know how it is. Can't turn back for a moment. Diet for him is necessary

I have always feed him one way and me and my family different. I feed him Clean, Meat & Veggies Very rare fruits, Now I am starting on just meat and veggies and fruit. I hope to see a difference, the sugar habit is hard to break. But I am trying.

We were a 5 people family, Then 4 now 3 as my 18 yr old just started her own life. When Cannon goes to a group home Life will be calmer. He will be close and I can see him everyday, It will be good for him and us. Then we will be down to just 2.

Autistic children are so special his smile can make my whole day. So now I have gotten a bike we can bike together. He loves to ride and my 10 yr old also. Cannon will turn 15 next month. I love him.
