Well, I'm still quasi dreaming about Belly Dancing. I plan to get some DVDs on it in the future. And learn that way, though dancing in a drum circle sounds like it would be awesome, though I'd be torn between wanting to drum and wanting to dance, haha. :)

I keep coming back to DVDs...class is more fun with the right teacher, but DVDs are ready when I am.

I started at age 30, I've always had a lot of back problems and I was trying to talk my then husband into starting a family...my doc ok'd the belly dance, and actually was excited that I was going to take it. That was 12 years ago. Classes are hard to find where I live, so I take whatever I can find and the last two years I've been challenging myself to dance at least 20 minutes a day...some days I dance more, some not at all, but still trying for 20 a day.

Hi, I'm Nyssa. I'm not new to bellydancing but I am very, very much still a beginner. I danced off and on with a class once a week a few years ago. Recently, I found myself missing it and decided to begin again. Currently, I'm in one class per week but I'm looking to add a second class in the next few weeks.

Hello, my name is Jamie. I found belly dance when I was seventeen and I was in love. Nothing at that point made me feel more feminine, beautiful, or happy as belly dancing did. I got into the best shape of my life when belly dance became a regular part of my day when I was 19. Unfortunately for me, there are no classes or dance troupes in my area, so I had to get my "fix" through video instruction. I danced through my pregnancies with both of my children, and now at the age of 31 I still try to keep belly dance in my life through more videos, you tube, and just putting on some music to shimmy my stress out. My daughter is beginning to dance with me on occasion which brings even more joy to an already joyful experience.

I started taking classes in September 2005, as my reward for finally finishing my PhD. I've had a number of teachers since and have danced in classes, troupes, and solo at various events. I've even done a few of paid gigs with a troupe. I haven't danced much since I became a mom. 1.5 years ago. Now, I don't even make it to my one class some weeks--just have different priorities at the moment. When my daughter is a little older, I'll have more time. And maybe she'll join me!

I took a class on a whim in 2003 when my youngest was a senior in high school. I joined a local troupe in 2006 (junior member in 2005) and have been with them ever since. I joke that I work to support my costume habit.

With a DVD? In a class? At a drum circle? Still just dreaming?
