Hi Laura!

I'm not new but starting again. It has been a difficult return. It takes effort to create a habit, and I need my habit to be SP, not NOT SP. I do better when here as well, if at the very least because of the calorie counter.

Welcome back to both of us. Let's try to make this a habit, a good one.

I've been on and off for a few years. I ALWAYS do well when I'm here... so why I keep leaving is beyond me!! I'm 48 and while my weight hasn't gone above a certain number, I can tell that there is sooooo much more flab. Even tho my weight hasn't changed, none of my pants fit, and all my tops are too tight in the upper arms.

So here I am again.
Hoping that I can keep up the momentum to work as hard as I need to in order to shed the pounds I need to. And in my late 40's it is much, much harder to do!!

Plus I want to inspire my friend who is diabetic and needs to drop some weight and gain some fitness. It's good to have someone f2f to partner up with for this journey and the changes it means.

This is the second time round for me. There was just too much going on for me to maintain SPARKPEOPLE and life. This time around, I am ready for success. Not just in my body but making my workout a non-negotiable aspect of my day.

Here we go again --

My name is Holly, and yep, starting again. When I first found Sparkpeople, I weighed 238. Through great community and online friends, I got down to 160 pounds (10 pounds from my goal weight!!). That was 5 years ago. Then, as things go, I fell off and over the course of time, I've gained 20 back. Several false starts, and nothing has changed. This year, I began a part time job with a multi-sport company, thinking that it would inspire and encourage me to get back on it. You would think that I would be in the best shape of my life, but I learned that it is a lot like my full time job as a librarian... you love it, but rarely have the time to do it for yourself... and as a result, have gained 10 more (I don't feel too bad about the last 10, as most everyone in the sport company gained over the summer as well).
So triathlon season is winding down for Indiana (our company has one more event), and I'm DETERMINED to get into shape and actually DO one next year, and hopefully lose 40 pounds in the process. I just need to focus! I sit here thinking "come on, Holly, you know how to do this, you've done it before", but having a group or someone to nudge me in the right direction would certainly help!!

Holly

I am also starting again before the school year begins again. I am sort of a yoyo dieter and know that there are many other people out there that are the same way. I have problems with exercising because of a heel spur and am just trying to watch what I eat. I have resolved to the fact that I will be blogging daily and figuring out my calories daily. One of my biggest issues was candy and snacks. I have now been 4 and a half days with either. Instead of candy for that something sweet, I have been eating sweet green grapes and rice cakes for the snacking moments. I have to keep reminding myself that I am not perfect and I am my own worst enemy when it comes to thinking badly about myself. I have achieved a lot in my 48 years and I have to keep reminding myself that. Hope that this helps someone to know some of the struggles that I have gone through

Hi 40somethings....
well I am back again. I have come to the realization that I need to start taking care of me. I will be 41 in a month. I recently saw a reflection of myself in a window and was like OMG .. how did i let this happen? I have not been able to lose my pooch belly for some time now so now it is basically lopped over. It is literally sitting in my lap. I really need to do this.

Hi there 40 Somethings,

Well I am back on the starting line. I think I have lots going on. I have reached a point where I am trying anything. It is funny because I love that show The Biggest Loser... it is so motivational for me, but I am not being successful in finding the time to exercise. I am so inspiried after seeing Dani lose all that weight . Oh yeah, I am a Houston girl. I am starting fresh again.

Thanks,

*let's try round 2 for 2013 well taking the summer off from school so hopefully this will help with my time management. Wish me luck 40 somethings!

Hi, I'm a re-starter. I joined a gym a month ago and I've already felt the results health-wise (not size-wise though). I'm super dedicated right now and I just need to work on eating better at home. I just don't have the time to cook so I've been eating out a lot. Right now I am focusing on cooking good healthy and QUICK dinners. It's not easy when you hate cooking.

I'm newly committed because I fear that Obamacare is going to make it very difficult for overweight people to get insurance coverage. I have already lost 25 lbs and gained 5 back. Now I have 55 lbs more to lose, and I need to carve 8 inches off my waist. I love SparkPeople because it keeps me accountable in so many different areas, e.g., food and exercise.

I'm back again as well. I'm reading a book that says "ask for and find support.." so... here I am again at SP...lol. :)

I have actually been a SP member for many years, and I tend to come and go... (always starting but never finishing. :( )

Maybe the tenth time is the charm? :)

I've been back again for about 6-weeks, and have lost about 10 of the 30 I need to get rid of for the very last time (somehow it keeps finding me!!). I dropped about 40 pounds several years ago and kept it off for about two years... a back injury, frequent travel and high drama brought back about 20. I'm looking at a closet full of clothes that I shouldn't be wearing out in public, but I refuse to buy a bigger size (got rid of clothes as the weight went down). I never got to my goal weight, but I am determined to do it this time around! No excuses.

They say people that track their food have more success, and I can attest to that. What's different this time is the mobile app - I can track food anytime, anywhere, and not just when I can kick my kids off the computer! That was my trouble before... I'd track for a few days, then never seem to find the time to get on the computer and track what I'd eaten. No I can do it in the checkout line, waiting for the kids to finish thier activities, laying in bed. It's a great tool! That and portion control... it's sometimes a pain, but I'm even measuring how much skim milk I use in my coffee... every bite, every sip, it all counts and it all gets tracked.

Best wished to all of us!!

I am starting over again also, for the fourth time. I am 41 and have 46 pounds I want/need to lose. My husband has a few he needs to lose also and we're going to do this together so I'm hoping I can stick with it this time. My life is a little chaotic right now because we are going to be moving soon but if I keep putting this off until "tomorrow" it's not ever gonna get done.

Welcome back Sunshine! A lot of us have been back more than once. It is NEVER easy. As long as you keep pushing towards what you want, you will get there. I think it's great that your hubby is helping you out. Mine is being very supportive to me this time as well. I too feel very strongly about the messages I send my girls (eating, exercise, well-being, etc) and I think it's great you are doing this for them also. You are terrific and YOU CAN DO IT. We're also here for support too don't forget!

Hi, like others, I am not new to SP. This is the 4th time (I think emoticon ) that I have started over. So far I am doing better this time because I have the hubs working with me. In the past, he wasn't really into it. He got me up and going today when I was ready to veg on the couch and he even mentioned going to the gym to just do Cardio on the days we are not doing strength training. I am 45 (soon to be 46) with 81 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight. I also have a 4 y/o son and 9 y/o daughter that I want to show that being healthy is not a bad thing. My 9 y/o is overweight but I am trying to go about it easy because I don't want her develop an eating disorder. Any suggestions are welcome!

I'm back AGAIN!!! I have been on SP several times, but I fall off track easily. My AHA moment occurred this weekend. My husband and I were getting ready for a gathering with friends. In the process I become aggrivated because "I have nothing to wear!" My husband points to the 15 pairs of jeans in my closet and says, just wear jeans...to which I reply those don't fit. He looks puzzled and asks, none of them? Yep, time to get back on track. So here I am logging food and workouts, and taking it one day at a time.

This is a do-over of sorts with Spark. I am now 40 and I cannot continue in the lifestyle of the past several years. I am trying to get fit enough to consider joining the local running/sports scene here in Charlottesville VA. Let me know what you are doing to stay motivated.
