Hi Tonia and welcome to the team.

This is a great team to be on. They have seen me go from 325 lbs to 166 lbs since July 2008. It has been a good journey. I have been on it with my sister (Thoms1) who has also lost a lot of weight. (160 lbs)

Post a lot! Write blogs! Every day if you can. Keep yourself accountable. Sit down and write your goals down and if you need help with writing them just ask any of us or read some great articles dealing with goals and how to do them. Most importantly put those goals down on your sparkpage for all of us to see. We will cheer for you and we will cry with you. Just say the word and we wil be all ears.

Welcome Tonia!

The only advice I know works is to put yourself out there. Start slow and build yourself up. Getting yourself moving is just half the battle. It's been a year and I am still teaching myself to say NO. It's hard to pass up things you know taste awesome, ugh. I've learned I don't -have- to pass on those things, but I have to decide if it's really worth it. Should I have the 2 cookies and give up half my dinner? It's probably best to go for the cookies. Otherwise I can try to plan around it, if I want to have treats, I will add them in before I plan my meals out. That takes a lot of control, control I'm still trying to get a grip on!

Once you get this figured out for yourself, you will feel so much better. Find that motivation and hang on!

You sound like me with the swelling of the legs and feet. I just had to get fitted for compression stockings - my legs are getting big blisters on them because of the circulation not flowing the right way.

WELCOME Tonia.. all I got to say is I am glad your here.. and I am glad you had that wake up call. Something or someone brought you to it.. and I congrats on listening..
I was going to have the lap band in June, I started the program with the surical group in Feb, then it was discoverd that I had a hernia near my esophagus nothing bad but he said no lap band and seeing that I had lost 30 lbs from feb to May I knew this was my wake up call cuz he said alot of people who are overweight do have the Hiatal hernias.. well I got to tell you the chest pains and the tighness have stoped my chest does not hurt like it use to.. I also excaped alot of other problems such as diabetes I was pre high blood pressure.. my legs are not swollen any my feet are but I think that is some other problem who knows. I can now walk up stairs with out huffing and puffing so many good things

Hi Tonia! i just joined too! I have alot of swelling and pain in my joints after having my third son and ballooning to 342 pounds. I remember when I was unhappy when I was 270 pounds. Now I want to get back to that weight again!!

Hello all!! I just joined tonight. My name is Tonia and I am 35 years old. Oh ya I need to lost a football player...lol
I have always been fat.I cant remember a time where I was not overweight. Honestly being this big never bothered me untill not long ago. Im having a hard time to walk and move. My legs and feet are so swellon, thats another matter.
About 2 weeks ago I went to the er because of the swelling and I was told it was right side heart failure and if I dont lose weight now I will die. She suggested me to get bypass sugrey and I dont want to have that done. Anyway right now I am not on any plan, I am starting on Tuesday. Only because I have my sons bday party and family comming from out of state and I want time to decide how I am going to lose 200 pounds. My 1st goal is to get to 299. I would love a buddy or 2. And any tips to get my started??? Thanks for reading my mini novel.
