I joined SP about a week ago for the second time. I joined back in 2009 during my senior year of undergrad. I sort of fell off the wagon for a while after that and decided to recreate my page. I moved to Billings about 8 months ago. I gained 10 lbs almost immediately upon arrival here. I am looking to shed that weight. I am only here for 2 years while I earn my Master's degree at MSUB. Then I plan to move wherever the wind blows me, hopefully that will still be in the western region of the US :). I am looking to get involved more in running and hope to do the Women's Run on May 10th. I started running yesterday and successfully made it 12 min without stopping, which I feel is a huge accomplishment for me :)

I joined sparkpeople a month ago. I moved to Billings 10 years ago. I have found some teams to be rather motivating and have already lost 8 pounds since I joined. We could start some challenge here and have fun too :)

My name is Kristine. I was born, raised and still live in Billings. I am a wife and mother of 3 children (17, 13, and 7). I will be walking to reach my fitness goals. Bunny I would love to start jogging with you, but let me work my way up to being able to jog. My goal is to be jogging for longer then 2 minutes at a time in 2 months.

Looks like not many people have been active on the SparkBillings team but I'd like to say Hello. I'm a 20 year old college student at MSUB, mother to a 2 month old and a dedicated wife. Need to lose about 50 or so pounds. In need of a Sunday morning jogging buddy. I like jogging in the cold I know a lot of people dont. Once it's warm enough I plan on bringing my little one for the ride.

Any one can give up, it's the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength. ~ unknown

HI. I'm sure that you have lost some weight. but i need to loose 50lbs before aug. 10th because I'm going to the Philippes. but i was worndoring if you needed anyone to walk with? thanks

Hi I am Holly, age 50, I live in Shepherd, I have several disabilities, but doing my best to do this. I lost 42 lbs on slimfast but have hit a standstill for the last 3 months. I am loosing again with this program nd eating alot. I am trying to figure out what I can do to work out with my limitations. I play the wii sitting down. and do stretches. but its hard to do much else . I have copd and cronic back pain as will as feet problems and other problems. I hope to use the treadmill when I get new shoes Hope to tak=lk to you all soon Holly

Hi All!
I came from Livestrong to SP at the end of January. I'm an RN at Billings Clinic who has completely ignored my own health for the entire ten years I've been in the field. My husband (who was a chef and is now going to nursing school)and I are seriously turning things around. We're focusing on eating healthy and getting off of the couch...and it seems to be working! We're from GA and now live in MT because I fell in love with it while on assignment as a travel nurse. Although I loved traveling and miss it sometimes, I'm glad we're not doing it anymore. I just wasn't finding the discipline to create a good routine while moving from place to place. Routine seems to definitely be a building block in developing healthy behavior. Would love to get together with other folks as serious as we are about our new journey!

I am back with SparkPeople again too. After 3 years of not watching closely what I eat I have packed on 50 pounds. SparkPeople does work if you want it to. I am happy to see some improvements with the food log from 3 years ago. I find it easier not doing all the logging as it takes too much time, but am very strict with the food log. And also use the work out videos daily. I restarted the beginning of January and will be weighing in on Sunday, hoping to have lost my goal of 5 pounds a month. I am new in town, just moved here in August and happy to see a team here. Good luck all and looking forward to some great conversations on our challenges and accomplishments.

Greetings fellow Magic City members! I am a life long resident of Billings, residing in the downtown area for the past 18 years. I've had a weight problem for 22 years. Even though I have 70 # to lose I'm greatly encouraged. Last April my doctor lowered the boom on me and told me I had to join the Diabetes Prevention Program through the Y and St V's. After that visit I started walking and restricting sugar in my diet. In August the program started and by Thanksgiving it is going to be scaled back to meeting monthly instead of weekly. The twice a week mandatory exercise program is totally done. In that light I realized I had to get something motivational to keep me going. Spark People is what other classmates had talked about so I've been using it for the past week. I like to update my status as a motivational tool for myself. This morning I wrote that I was going to early water aerobics and I did it! There were tons of reasons I couldn't (busy, busy) but I am very thankful that I did it. My health needs to be a priority. Have a wonderful day all! Go for a walk, the weather is GREAT!

Hello everyone! I was searching the internet last night for the best free online food trackers, found this one! I'm kind of scared but also excited to give it a try. I'm no stranger to losing weight (although it feels like it lately :( ). I really like the way this tracker helps me break down what I'm eating by carbs, fats, proteins, etc. And it's FREE!!! I can hardly believe that! I subscribed to another online site (not free), and while I learned a lot from it and feel it was worthwhile, I'm thinking I need a change. So...have a great week, everyone and I hope to hear more about you! I love the fact that there's a team in Billings! It somehow makes it more personal!

Greetings, I'm Ryan and I live in the downtown area. When I switched from working fast food to a financial job I notice that I can't keep the pounds from sticking. After four years I've gained 30 lb's!!! I've had enough. ^_^

Good Morning Sparkers- Im not new to sp, or this team, I've just been such a lurker- well, I've had the first great week on program and feel like I can do this- as long as I stay involved- I've found I can't do it by myself- so I'll probably "friend you all up" slowly . My story is so similar to the ones I'm reading here. Lost my job in a horrible way... husband lost his job... son got diagnosed with type1 diabetes at 15... Mom gains 50 pounds. I am so thankful for this site. - I live near St vincent hospital- and think Billings is a great town, (except the casinos...ick) Thanks for reading my intro and have a sparky day!

I am very sorry to hear about your husband. Let me, however, say WELCOME to the Team. My name is Lisa and I live in the Heights. I just had my aorta rupture in November and am on the mend from that. Prior to my issue I was running 3 miles a day, so trying to climb back, I know, can be rough. Together here we are going try and motivate and support each other. My name is Debby and I live close to downtown Billings. I started putting weight on a few years ago, my Dr said it probably was stress, since we found out my husband had cancer. I've been working on taking the weight back off, but it's hard. My husband passed away last month, and now eating is the last thing on my mind. I know I have to, but it's so different cooking for one person, thank goodness for the weight watchers frozen dinners and lean cousines.

Welcome to the Team!!! I live in the Heights too, right behind the Heights Inn. This is a great site. It can take a bit of time to get used to logging all that stuff in, it does get quicker as you go. I don't work so I have a little more time to devote to it. If you want to keep track of workouts, you can also log them under our Check In With Us forum. It won't calculate your calories burned, but will give you a reference to see how you're progressing. I'm hoping to get some face-to-face activities going once Spring decides to stay. Let me know if I can help in any way. Again WELCOME!!!! emoticon

Hi,
I live in the Heights and joined because a cyber-friend of mine recommended the site. I need to get back into shape and lose 10 pounds. I'm having a little trouble getting enough time to use the tracking tools. It seems to take hours to log in foods.. and exercise.

A big "Hello" to everyone! I've been with SP since February. I live in the Heights and am glad that the weather is finally getting nicer. In November I had my youngest child,Grady, and had to have emergency heart surgery due to a ruptured aorta. Thanks to all the folks at Deaconess I am still here. I used to jog 3-5 miles a day and am slowly on the road back to that. I found SP and that it would be a fantastic way to back up to speed and make a "motivation connection" with others on the same path. It's great to have everyone here. We should try to put an "in person" meeting together at some point. What do you think? We should also get some challenges going to keep up the motivation. Just a thought. Have a great Easter!!!

Hi! My name is Sherry and I have been gradually gaiing the weight over many years, so I have just joined Sp and am looking forward to grqadually taking it off. I'm Deb, I've been working out for 6 years and first 2 years I weighted 211 and over 6 months I got down to 155 and then I was 161 and now 159. Joining this website it gives me more encouragement to push myself to my goal which is 135 and even more there is people in Billings I didn't know that I can get more encouragement.

I am so excited to have found SP and this team. I think getting fit and especially losing weight is very difficult to do alone. I love having other's support. I have about 100 lbs. to lose and I am ready to get moving... Sometimes I need someone to push me a little though. Glad you are all here!
