Great job you have done. Keep active and owning your journey, it sounds like you are.
Great advice here.
Take each day by it's self and do not over whelm yourself with looking ahead to far. It can get you down. Just today focus on you an what you can do, not what you can't and not the big picture.
Good Luck and always remember to enjoy your journey!

Walk through your journey with a loving open heart and as well mind. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
Laugh, if at nothing else yourself.

I agree with SIMCYN's statement about not worrying about macro's (fat, carbs, protein ...) except for carbs at 30 grams per day. Also on tracking everything you eat and drink, just what it is, and how much, no further analysis, just tracking.

I have a digital scale with a zero-out feature to not count the weight of the plate, but weigh each item eaten. The reason for that is that when weight loss slows on some days, you can look back at it and figure it out, rather than throw you hands in the air and say this isn't working.

Inevitably, with hindsight, you can look a back at such a time and say, I never knew yams had so many carbs ... or something like that.

Welcome Candra. I know you can lose the weight because I have. I'm not where I want to be yet, but I have lost close to 70 pounds in about 8 months. I have no knee or other joint problems now either where before the stairs were avoided since it hurt so bad. Unfortunately, we have a lot of stairs here. Please feel free to ask any questions. Don't get caught up too much on the macros at first. I keep my carbs less than 30. Make sure you track everything.

Welcome Candra,
I'm glad you are here, and glad you are getting engaged (posting). To get the most out of SparkPeople I think you have to post and put some of your personality out there.

It is peer pressure, just plain and simple, but good peer pressure. We are all here to cheer you on and help you on the Keto path.

Read your page, and you have knee problems, and I suspect can't exercise much. As far as weight loss goes that is no problem. Weight loss is 95% what you eat, as you've discovered, losing 15 pounds in 6 weeks, which is over 2 pounds per week.

This will continue at that rate for quite some time.

Your plan ... By now, 6 weeks in you should have a pretty good idea what to eat, and what not to eat, and by now you should be in a groove, with carb cravings much diminished.

We are not here to criticize you. We are here to support you, guide you and answer questions.

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I have been on my Keto journey since Dec. 26, 2016 (almost 6 weeks) and so far have lost 15 pounds. I started out reading and watching videos on dietdoctor.com and checking out every book I could find at the library. I still feel like a fish out of water half the time and feel like I am "winging it" the other half LOL! I track my macros but depending on what my body is doing and what I read those numbers change often ... I still haven't landed on a sweet spot yet and wonder if I ever will figure it out?

My 81 year old mother lives with me and we take good care of each other and enjoy each other's company along with our 2 cats and our main man Charlie our 11 year old Boxer. My father, who has dementia and severe COPD, lives with my sister and I help co-parent him as needed (he can be a handful). I have lots of nieces and nephews and three grands with 3 more on the way before July!

My big reason for doing Keto is weight loss. I have a bad knee that needs to be replaced but VA won't do the surgery until I am under 35 BMI (current BMI is 48 ouch!)

I look forward to getting to know you all and learning from you!

Candra ... aka Duh Duh (my family Nick name) or Aunt Duh Duh (my favorite name!)
