That's interesting Carol.

I am focusing on doing various exercises, that I can do life long. I like aqua-size classes as it is less strenuous on my bones - I have Osteoporosis, which limits me in doing some exercise activities. Walking I enjoy and thus far can do that several times a week.

I just read an article suggesting a commitment to 10 minutes of exercize per day. For me it was the perfect solution for an "all or nothing" person like me. I have long been an avid gym rat, thinking that was what it would take to get into and stay in shape. My attitude never allowed me to focus on my diet in a meaningful way. Now if I can't get in 45 or 60 minutes, I'm going to let myself off the hook with my new 10 minute rule.

Oh yes, getting caught in an unpredictable situation can be a challenge. It is pretty impossible to find anything healthy at Mc Donald's! When I travel with others and have to eat at McDonald's, I get the parfait that has yogurt, fruit and granola. Another option if you are in a grocery store is a nutrition bar and a bottle of water. That will hold you until you can get home where you have better options.
Yesterday I reset my goal weight. When I reach that, I will set another goal. I figure it is more rewarding to reach several short term goals as I progress toward my final goal.

emoticon CAROL ~ That's similar to how I reached my goal weight. One day at a time. It is how I boyotted fast food restuarants. It took about a month for the cravings to subside.

Haven't been in a fast food resturuant in 7 years. I did have one slip, about a year ago, I was having my car serviced at 8am. I was to told it would be at least 2 1/2 hours. I headed to Walmart to kill the time, the only place opened so early and with in walking distance. I was becoming hungry, as left home with out anything to eat. I decided to eat some breakfast at McDonalds that is inside our Walmart store. Took one bite out of the egg McMuffin and hard a hard time eating it, as I was watching the grease ooze out of the potato pattie onto several napkins. I threw the whole breakfast in the garbage. Thinking to myself I'd rather suffer hunger pangs than eat that garbage!

Today makes 10 days that I have really followed the Spark plan. I actually believe that I can get healthy now. How did this happen? Just taking care of today's diet and fitness goals instead of looking too far ahead. One day at a time makes me feel confident.

Hi, I'm Carol. Though I have been a member of SparkPeople for 2+ years. I have been inconsistent in following the program. Now, I am ready to put out the effort to finally achieve my goals. When I hit 153 last month, I decided that my current lifestyle is unacceptable. Looking forward to getting and giving support.

Well, read my Spark page and that will give you some of my goals.

Right now I'm trying to lose one pound a week and walk more. Also want to check in with my SP friends more often and give them encouragement and help if I can.

I came within three #'s of my goal last Sept. and guess what when winter came so did the #'s. Now I am back where I was and have it to do over again. I hope I have the strength to stay with it this time. I say that everytime I loose weight. I feel so much better when I am eating right. What makes us go off the wagon all the time. I know what to do, but get in situtations where I think oh well everyone else is eating, why not me, it won't hurt this time, then before I know it there go the #'s up again.

Great goals, Pris! Remember, short terms goals are always a good idea . . . baby steps turn into big steps. Once you've accomplished the baby steps, it becomes a habit and the next goal doesn't seem so hard to accomplish as you build. Good luck!!
