Debra,

My husband had gastric bypass a week following my VSG - he has lost over 70 pounds so far. He has another 80 to go before they will consider him for hip replacement. That is what started us down this road.
did you see Cheryl's post below? she had her surgery somewhere around mine and is doing really well too. All the ladies on this thread are an inspiration - some of them are years out and are maintaining to me that is inspiration and hope for the future as well.
keep posting and keep your spirits up - I think a positive outlook and joy of life and God go a long way in recovery as well.

Hi Kathy,

I just found this post! Did your hubby have the sleeve too? How is he doing on his journey? You are doing very well yourself, be proud!

I look forward to getting to know you and the other sleevers on the board!

Hi Cheryl - just one day apart - that's great - I had a rough start but starting to catch up now - wow you are down 33 pounds that is terrific. I am down 22 as of this morning - the first 2 weeks after surgery I didn't lose one single pounds - it worried me enough that I had my DH ask the doctor at his 1 week follow up emoticon He said to just hang in there that it would happen and the scales are now finally moving for me -

Welcome back to SP - I just came back last week. So it looks like we are on the same page!

Hi Kathy! Yours was the first post I found as I started, yet again, on SparkPeople this morning. I'm from North Texas and had VSG on August 19th this year - almost 4 weeks ago. It was definitely a rough few weeks right after surgery and cannot imagine taking this along with your hubby! Good for you two!
I'm glad to find someone else so recently sleeved. Good luck to us in our journeys!
Cheryl

Thank you for the words of welcome - both of you are an inspiration. I know slow and steady wins the race but we have such expectations and the first two weeks and not even an ounce down was depressing. But the scales are moving some now and I know I can do this.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Kathy - welcome!! I live in Missouri :-) I was born and raised in Texas, but have been here for about 15 years now....

I am definitely a "slow loser" ... I am almost to the 6 month mark and my loss has been slow, but relatively steady. Stick with it! You will get there!!

Welcome Kathy and good luck with your Sleeve. We all like to say we are in love with our "Sleevie Wonder!" LOL

None of us ever think we are losing fast enough in the beginning. I guess we just think we should wake up from surgery with 50 pounds gone, but one day soon you'll look up and think, "Wow, I've really lost a lot." Twenty-one pounds is nothing to sneeze at and it sounds like you're doing great.

Most of our conversations take place in the monthly chat threads so jump on over to the September chat to meet everyone and see what's going on. Ask all the questions you like and chime in whenever you feel like it...or just lurk if that suits you better.

We're a fun, helpful group with members ranging from those still awaiting surgery to those of us who are 4-5 years post-op.

I'm a 63-year-old grandmother from Central Texas. I had my surgery April of 09 and I've lost 190 pounds. WooHoo! Life is good.

See ya in the September Chat...

Blessings,
Linda

I've been on spark a number of years and several years ago it really helped motivate me to lose a lot of weight. But unfortunately I let go and it shows. So starting over - I had my VSG on August 20, 2013 - so far 21 pounds. Of course that includes the two week liver reduction diet. It hasn't come of nearly as fast as I thought after surgery but such is the story of my life. So , every pound counts.
A little about me - I am a Missouri girl born and raised. Married no kids unless you count my two dogs emoticon which are very spoiled. Work for a living, who doesn't right. and always looking to make new friends.
My name is Kathy and I am pleased to meet all of you.
