I had the same experience with the Facebook groups and to some extent the support groups, too many "experts"! Just listen to you doctor and nutritionist and you will do great. Just remember this is a lifelong commitment to a healthy lifestyle, there are no shortcuts or cutting corners. It can be a little overwhelming but you can succeed! I wish you the best on you weight loss journey.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this team and to the whole process. I have not had the surgery yet. I did the orientation, met with the surgeon and am in the process of losing 13 pounds. I do my nutrition class and support group soon. I am frustrated because there is so much to do and take in during this process and the last FB bariatric group I belonged to had far too many people giving inappropriate medical advice and those looking for ays to cheat the system. Hopefully I am able to find better support on here as well as try to be supportive to others even though I am so new to this.

Hey Everyone,

Roger welcome to the team!!!! I love hearing about success stories!!!!!

I was sleeved on April 7, 2008 after yo-yo dieting for years. It's the best decision I ever made for myself. I had a hip replacement in 2017 and 2018 and have gained a few pounds, but I'm able to begin walking more now, and plan to get rid of these extra pounds quickly. I lost 130 pounds, and have gained about 20. I'm doing very well!!!! I would do this again anytime. I have only positive things to say.

Please join us in the general chat. We do most of the talking there. I look forward to getting to know you.

Hi My name is Roger I had my sleeve surgery in June of 2017. I have lost over 150 lbs since. I had been struggling with my weigh since I retired for the Police force in 2000. I ballooned up to as much as 385 lbs I was able to diet with great difficulty down to 298 but as the story always seems to go I gained a good deal back and my weight fluctuated between 350 and 380 I knew this kind of dieting was physically dangerous to me,.my first attempt at weight loss surgery resulted in an insurance company denial, so I continued to diet off the weight without any sustained success. In the meantime my drinking and poor physical health contributed to the failure of my marriage.I was resigned to my fate, then my daughter got pregnant with my first grandchild, She read me the riot act, I needed to get healthy so I could sent be around for them. So I started the journey once again, found an excellent local Bariatric surgeon and this time I was determined come hell or high water that I would succeed. It has been quite a ride I did all the surgeon and dietitian asked when I started I was 355 lbs after 6 months I was down to 320 and started a month that would change my life two weeks of liquids prior to surgery got me down to 306 and right after the surgery i was a little bloated so I bounce up to 316, but a two week post op liquid quickly brought me down to 295. I haven't looked back since, fueled by my success I dove into the the weight loss and I now weigh a healthy 190 lbs. this was the best decision I ever made.I'm walking 5-7 miles everyday and calisthenics 3x a week.(didn't need to join a gym) Life is good, my Daughter had a beautiful girl who is the light of my life and now another on the way.I hope this group will help me continue on the right track and look forward to meet you all.
