Exactly! When you're waiting for pizza delivery, you're so ready for it that you think you'll starve to death before they ever get there!

Good idea! I was thinking about incorporating it into a birdhouse or something.

Maybe you can put it on a pedestal or incorporate it into a mixed-media piece of art!

My car battery died and so DH took it to the battery place. They really struggled to get the post off as it was terribly corroded. The result? A piece of twisted metal that looks just like a pig sculpture.

OK I have been thinking that This may be a topic that went the other way but let me tell you something to crack you up...
I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising.
I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors.
I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour.
But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over.

I took a old washstand and painted it and my husband dropped our sink in it for our bathroom.. Turned out nice.. I thought the paint was crazy but it looks nice with the roses on the wall..

Has anyone come across anything special lately that you'll be working on?

I bought a full-length mirror on a stand at an auction that I'm going to repaint for my granddaughters.

Oh I so agree. Why buy new or toss something just because it has a little wear and tear. Yesterday I decided to see what is smelling so musty in my bedroom. Well, seems my kitty has been sleeping in the dust cover which leaves a kitty smell after all this time. So I told my DH I needed to take it off and he said sure why not just wash it and put it back up. Now that we know where it is coming from we can be on the lookout.

That took care of the problem just perfectly. Use, reuse, and use again. LOL

The mirrors in my bathrooms are made from old picture frames and mirror glass.
My family room TV sits on an old piece of furniture I bought at a rummage sale for 5 bucks and refinished.

I reupholstered our TV room couch using a used denim duvet cover and chambray shirts.

The list goes on and on...clever and frugal beats throwing money at it every time!

I am fortunate as I live alone. And as people have come to discover, when they see my re-purposed treasures done few say anything. I am not a hoarder, I don't take things for the sake of taking. Once in awhile I purge through things if I have not used it in under a year. I give it to Freecycle for someone else to use.

www.freecycle.com

Like today I am getting 3 new phones unusued and 2 vases. I will in turn take my old phones and put on Freecycle or NOLaFrugal.com. Someone is coming for appliances I neither have ever used & probably won't. The funds from that will finance my roman shades.

I once stopped and picked up the veneer off a wet headboard [it was raining] I used that piece of veneer [for various projects] for years!

Do you have problems with family members trying to ditch your stuff?

That is so like us. My DH picked up some metal bedframes to use as backings for our gardens. It is such a high to find treasures.

I picked up on my way out to the next parish a half of a chair that was missing the back, but the shape of it will make a wonderful base for a table or even an ottoman. I guess the owner thought we were nuts, but it intrigued me so much I lost my thought while we were driving! emoticon So we went back to et it.

When I go to yard sales I always hit the freebies. I have some real treasures like my swan with no wings, and the circle on my birdhouse made from a circular tie holder. I really do understand. LOL As soon as I get a little time with no rain I'll post a couple of things.

I live in a VERY small 1 bedroom apartment and all my aides (to assist with personal care and cleaning) are always complaining because I have 15 totes full of what they call "junk". There is no room to store them so they are all up the wall in my bedroom. They keep saying that "we have to organize" and I am like "NO WAY" I need that stuff for something I just do not know what yet!

Great! So glad you joined us!
I drive myself nuts saving stuff to make into something else, and I'm going to have to ban myself from thrift stores real soon.
Would love to see your bird feeder when you have time to post it in the photo section.

I'm seeing my friends from other teams and wonder... why didn't you tell me about this team? I recycle my little heart out and even though I do it I didn't know that using recycled stuff for my crafts and art is called upcycling. I love to collect stuff and use it for the wooden signs and birdhouses I make.

I used to old lids from pots long gone to make a bird feeder. I'll try and post a pic soon.

Anyway, here I am!
