I'd better reintroduce myself too, then.

I too am an incomer - moved when we retired, to be close to our daughter in a cheaper part of the world. I too live in Powys - it's a big county - but this part is quite Welsh-speaking and our grandsons are in a Welsh medium primary school. Which makes the Christmas production interesting. I understood Mair and Isaf, but what was the Doctor Who music all about? I keep saying we should learn Welsh, but life is too full all the time.

When I retired I took up creative writing seriously, and a couple of years ago I got a Certificate in Creative Writing from Aberystwyth University. I've published a couple of volumes of flash fiction and am (still) working on five first drafts of novels produced during National Novel Writing Month. One day I'm going to finish them, I swear.

I was a fat child. I was mostly a fat adult. Type 2 diabetes doesn't help, but I'm on new medication now which doesn't encourage my body to lay down more, which is good news. I hate exercise, and the season ticket at the local gym has got very expensive since it was privatised. Bad news.

Think not. Do.

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

I'm sure I've probably introduced myself before, some years ago when I first joined the team, but since we're trying to get the team moving again I'll do it again.

I'm Sarah, I'm originally from England but have lived in Powys for about 5 years now. I live with my cat on a farm nestled into a hillside. I'm in a long term relationship with a wonderful man from Carmarthenshire. I've embraced the Welsh language and now work as a Welsh for Adults tutor - I probably speak more Welsh than English nowadays, despite not living in a Welsh speaking area. On the rare occasions I have time for hobbies, I love knitting, crochet, cross stitch, and walking in these fabulous hills.

I've struggled with my weight for years, consistently being about two stone over my goal. This time I'm taking a very relaxed approach to the whole thing, just gradually making better choices with my food and lifestyle, so that hopefully this time it sticks instead of becoming a 'diet and fitness kick'.

There we go. That's me. :)
