Hello everyone, I'm Alicia, I joined spark in 2009 but kind of came and went and couldn't find a way of eating that worked for me. I came back on Oct 19th 2010 and plan on sticking with things. I've found a great plan.

A bit about me, I've decided to make things difficult on myself by attempting a 'zone' way of eating (40% carbs 30% protein 30% fat) although I refuse to stick to anything to a point where it isn't for me, so I work it the best I can. I say I'm making things difficult because I'm vegetarian. After this week, eggs and cheese will be cut out as well.

Anyhow, I eat about 1400-1450 cals a day, I exercise almost every day even if it's just a minimal amount I make sure I do SOMETHING.

I have fibromyalgia which makes exercise difficult, but I have found that my new pain management program (which includes exercise) is helping me manage my pain in ways I never thought possible. (hit me up in a sparkmail if you have fibro too!)

I live with my bf who is always watching his eating and exercising. He's much smaller than me but still has a good bit to lose.

We have been together ...16 years in March 2011. It's sneaking up! (yes, I'm 30 and it's been 16 years. haha!) We don't want kids but love our furbaby Fuzzy the Cat.

:D

Anyone still around? I went and moved again (bought a house, yay!) but had to update my electrical and fix the treadmill before I could get back on this exercise thing. I have to reintroduce my self to the incline. I'm not climbing stairs anymore, so it was a shock. I've never had problems before and it's such an easy way to increase the calorie burn. Hopefully I'll get over it soon.

Hey everyone I haven't posted to this page since I joined back in May. I am a grandmother of 3 and mother of 2. My dh and I recently adopted my step brother's son. He is 4 and was born with a lot of health issues which I can say have been resolved with a lot of prayer and love. I want to get healthy and fit so I can keep up with him. He is on the go all the time. In all I have lost 50 pounds + and still going. I want to be at my goal weight by April. Just in time for spring.

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.

Hey, everyone!

I haven't posted to this team even though I started last May; I thought it would be nice to connect with other people, who had stuck with it all that time.

I don't use Spark People every day, but I always eat like I do, and I love when I have the time to check in with my teams.

I have three kids from 13 to 2, and I'm a middle school teacher.

I was 199 when I joined in May, and I'm down to 160; yeah!

I'll check out the team goals and check in with y'all later (Is it obvious I'm from Texas yet?)

HI Everyone! I've been a member since May but have recently started posting. Just been navigating through the website for the most part. I can't believe how much time has past by already. I feel like the Spark is still all new to me. I preordered the Spark and am currently reading it and almost done. I'm on my second week of the Spark diet and have lost 1 lb.

Hello fellow Sparklers,
My name is Krissy. 45 years old. Been sparking for about 6 weeks now. Lost 9 pounds so far, a few more to go. Happily married for ten years in September. Five kids between my DH and myself. I just started jogging about a week ago and plan to complete my first ever 5K in December. Looking forward to have a new group to chat with.

Welcome Jenna. I working off about 90 lbs, and your're right - it's hard to admit those numbers over 20-30! The biggest thing is stop thinking of it as 135lbs, but 61 kilograms (just kiddding, a little Canadian humor). Actually set goals for yourself that are attainable and easier to fathom accomplishing. Decide that your goal is 20 lbs or even 5 pounds in a month. Celebrate the little successed, and soon they add up to the big ones.

Hello Everyone!

I am a 27 year old newlywed with about 135 pounds to lose (did I just really admit that?). I am hoping this will be my final and successful attempt to do so. I have a feeling that the help and support I have come across here will go a long way...

I joined May 4th but haven't really taken the time to navigate and "figure out" this website until today. There is a lot to learn! I really would appreciate the advice and support and guidance you all might have to offer. I have a long way to go but I have a lot of determination to go along with it. We want to have kids in a couple of years and I need to be healthy in order to do that!

I am looking forward to sharing my journey with you and supporting you as you succeed on your journey as well!

Hi,
I'm Rosanna and have also struggled forever with my weight. High school was really bad, but I've come a long way since then. I lost about 50 lbs and have kept it off for 7 years, but I can't seem to get past this weight. Spark People has been a blessing and I am really motivated to make it this time!

Hi, I've been back on SP for a few weeks, but I'm just getting around to introducing myself.

My name is Nikki and I live in Southern Maryland with my husband, no kids. I've been struggling with my weight my whole life, but this time seems to be the worst. At the moment I'm on track and steadily losing (I just broke a 2 year plateau).

I have a short term goal to be under 200 lbs. before I turn 40 in October.

Hi everyone. I'm Clare from Chicago, and joined Spark on May 3 but only just found the team. I've been trying to take off weight for a long time, and have been stuck for the last 6 months or so. I'm determined to get back to healthy me, & will be glad for all the support I can get!

Hey Heather, glad to see you join us. Hope to see you in more discussions.

As for the question about your picture... I can't remember, I only did it the one time. Must be something on "Edit my page". One of the team leaders can tell you for sure, they are used to these questions and have all the answers!

Hi, all, I am Heather - 38 and living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My 20 year high school reunion is coming in August and I want to look more like my old self (but better). I have spent the last 20 years in school, in and out of 2 marriages (one as an army wife), and caring for my father who passed in December. It is finally time for me to pay attention to myself and find the person under all the stress and fat. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

As an aside, how do you get your profile picture to show next to your posts?

Thanks,
Heather

Hi teammates, I'm Annette and I joined SP May 5th. I've joined several teams but I somehow didn't realize our class team had a SparkTeam Page. Oops!Better late than never, I guess. ;)

Anyway, I'm doing well and meeting several goals. The nutrition tracker has been very helpful! I really watch what I eat more closely now. I didn't realize I wasn't getting enough protein. I looked into buying some protein bars, but all the ones I saw contain tree nuts, which I'm allergic to. So I need to look into another source for getting more protein.

Drinking 8 cups of water daily has been the easiest change I've made. I've been working out every day, too. Surprisingly, my hardest goal has been getting 8 hours sleep a night; that's what I'm trying to work on now. Guess I'd better get off the computer and put some action behind my words, LOL!

I wish everyone a great start on your new, healthier you! We CAN do this!

I've been feeling my way around SparkPeople for a week now and just realized this was one of my teams. Duh!

I also am returning from a 2 year absence. I didn't join any teams then (too shy even on line) and got stuck after loosing 22 lbs in 5 months and quit trying. I'm back now with a new commitment. I find I'm really enjoying this team concept and enjoy discussions. So much support. emoticon

I have struggled all my adult life with weight. Yo-Yo. I am a 6 year breast cancer survivor and finding that I don't have the physical stamina I used to and after 2 surgeries (to prevent cancer as it runs in the family) I find it hard to get back to the same level I was doing at the gym. I know I'll find the encouragement, support and motivation here at Spark to start feeling better.

Hi, all! I'm Robin. I just joined SP on the 9th, but am still finding my way around here.

My weight has been a battle all my life. I've got about 100 pounds to lose, perhaps even a little more, but I'm starting with a goal of 50 pounds in a year to see how I do. I want to get healthy again.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi everyone. I am a former member of the Aug 5-12 2007 group where I had successfully lost 50.5 pounds. However, I ended up getting pregnant, gained it all back-and more- and now 4 months post partum I almost back to where I started in 2007. Another long road, it took 9 months to lose that 50 pounds!

Hello All,

My name is Eric. I'm 32 and currently enjoying a 1-year stent in Saudi Arabia; a long way from home and family. It looks like there is plenty of spare support here in SP.

My goal is to make a change to a more healthy lifestyle. I'm giving myself 300-days to lose 30-lbs, because I want to honor my wife with a healthier me.

My technique is to develop healthy habits: smarter eating, more intense strength workouts and more consistent cardio-vascular exercise.

Let's do this!

Hello everyone!
Am just getting to know the site (so many features!) but not new to weight struggle. Been going up for the last 10 years, and at every mile stone (10 kilo) I always said I'd never go above it! When I got over 100 kilos that was kind of it. Am now 105kg (231lb) and am looking to loose around 40kg (88lb).
As you see I use the metric system (am in Europe) and was introduced to the site from the lovely girls on MUA fitness forum (MakeUp Alley). Could not find any free programs in my country, so decided to try this.
My first weigh in and measuring will be on Thursday. I am doing this together with my husband so we help each other stay on track!

Hi, I joined SP on May 3rd and have been cultivating an addiction to the site ever since.

I joined as part of my mid-life crisis. I had quit drinking a few years ago, and since then I have been slowly making improvements in my health, going to the gym regularily, more regular sleep and more regular healthy eating.

Coming here is a part of the final push to living healthy. I quit smoking, and am trying to bring my diet more under control. So far, it has been a blast. I am enjoying the site, the boards and have learned a lot from tracking my food and excercise.

My name is Jonathan. I got out of the military around 1 year ago and started being a stay at home dad. Needless to say I gained quite a bit of weight.

Back in August of last year, my brother and I started a bet to lose 2 lbs a week until Thanksgiving. We both met that goal and quit the diets. Well he continued to weigh himself and stayed where he was and I let myself go again.

I have set my goal at 1 year to lose around 60lbs to get down to a weight that I haven't weighed since high school.

I just started Thursday night. I can alreay tell that this will be good for me as long as I can keep motivated. I have set a goal of 1200 calories per day and it was really shocking to see how much I was really eating once I started tracking my food intake. I stumbled on the site while looking for a calorie counter. Thanks for SparkPeople.

Hi! I'm a 19 year old 3rd year college student. I have a crazy hectic life (and I LOVE IT)... I am a double major -biology and psychology- and a double minor -chemistry and spanish- and I was previously the student body Secretary and founder/President of my University's Biology club. Now I am student body President :)
I got pregnant when I was 16. At the time I was about 170 lbs and wanted to lose weight, and since then did nothing but gain :( so I need some help and guidance and that's why I'm here!

Also, I'm part of my University's Relay for Life team. For those of you who don't know, Relay for Life is an overnight walk held by the American Cancer Society to help raise money for cancer research and support those whose lives have been affected by cancer. I'm trying to raise money to help my team, and would love it if I could get everyone to donate just $1. Every donation counts!!

Hey! I'm new to this website, not to weight loss struggles. I've been trying to lose weight since this Jan and so far I've lost about 35 lbs. I still have a ways to go and am trying to stay on track though my motivation is lagging a bit at the moment. I want to lose at least 50 more lbs. This is going to be a long, hard journey and I hope sparkpeople helps me stay focused and reach my goal!!!!! Peace.

A sticky message is when a message is set to stay at the top of the pages. Admin can make a message "sticky" so that it is easy to find when we start having a lot of messages in a forum.

I was a sp drop-out in 2007. I've come back with more determination than ever. But don't think just because I've been here before, that I know my way around. Things have changed soooo much in two years. I need to learn new navigational skills again. Like has anyone figured out how to change that quote at the bottom of my posts (It's 2 years old!)

Hi, everyone!
I'm Chrissy, 20 and I've been doing crazy dieting for about 2 years now. I feel like I'm trapped in a vicious circle of bingeing and starving and my health is beginning to suffer from that. I've been trying to break out and eat like a normal person for a while now.
Maybe this time? I sure hope so!

Hey ya'll! My name is Emily & my goal is to lose about 25 pounds. My little girl is 3 1/2 & I saved about 5 pounds after she was born. My little boy is 8 months, & I still have 16 pounds to lose from him. I have tried lots of diets & nothing seems to help. I'm hoping that what I've been missing is the support of others with the same goals! Can't wait to get to know everyone!

Good Evening everyone,

I am trying to lose about 40 pounds. I gained about 10 pounds with each of my pregnancies and it's time to get this extra weight off (my baby is going to be 10 this summer). I gained ANOTHER 10 pounds last summer and THEN I found out last summer that I am diabetic. I lost 8 pounds from August to December. Then I joined weight watchers in December. I lost another 3 pounds since December and I'm beginning to go crazy!. 11 pounds in 9 months is crazy. I'm so frustrated. I'm hoping that tracking my calories and nutrition will help me do better. I look forward to working with all of you.

Hi! I joined sp at the beginning of this week. I'm having fun browsing the website and discovering all the cool tools to use. And everyone is very supportive!

My name is Julie and I live in Indiana with my husband. I've decided it's time to shed some extra pounds and get back to exercising.

Good luck to all of you with your goals!

Chasesc, sorry to hear that you hurt your leg.

But it's good to see you (and many others) back on Spark! I've come and gone and come and gone a few times myself, so I know what it's like. Good luck with your motivation!

I'm wondering... do you have any small weights at home? You might be able to do some exercises with those to work your upper body while your legs heal?? There are lots of exercises for your upper body that you could do sitting down.

Hello all. I guess I'm a bit of a late entry into the group.. being as the week is almost over. But.. I'm here none-the-less. I joined SparkPeople awhile back.. and gave up. Not SparkPeople's fault.. Just my own motivation. I'm currently 220lbs.. Ugh. I'm only 28 yrs old.. and very unhappy with my current status. You would think that would drive me to change.. but.. my husband isn't all that supportive. He talks the talk.. but when it comes down to it, he's suggesting fast food for meals. Again.. ugh. lol. So.. I'm kinda at this on my own. Not the best way to go, I know.. but.. I cant live in THIS body anymore. I can't really exercise right now, as I sprained my knee and ankle just a week ago. As soon as that heals up, I'm playing softball and hitting the exercise routine. So.. Here we go! Best of luck to everyone! :-)

Hi everyone! I am a new SP member - I just joined yesterday. So far the dieting is NOT going well! I totally caved and had fast food for supper last night. I'm hoping today will go better.

I'm excited to be here - the site has been very helpful and the people here very supportive this far.

Don't worry... we all get there at some point. The important thing to remember is that a plateau is temporary (some just last longer than others). Myself, I lost 7 lbs my first week and then plateaued for at least a month, if not closer to two. We have to take the good losses with the bad stuff like plateaus or even gains!

Thanks KATESMASH- I am going to work extra hard on strength training. I am doing 30min treadmill, 30 min elliptical, or mixing it up with the times to get some variation. I just feel like I can't get over this plateau. I have lost 13 pounds before I joined (today) and I am not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Mmacdonku, sometimes changing your routine can get you off your plateau. If you have been doing the same thing consistently, try something new! I don't know what you've been doing for your cardio, but maybe you could try something different for a bit, even once a week.

Make sure you are adding strength training in as well, toning your body is how you will get those inches off!

Hi my name is Nikki, I am 33 years old and I started Weight Watchers about 8 months ago and have lost 30lbs. I am enjoying Weight Watchers but Im not sure how much longer I will be attending so I was so happy to find this website!! My intent is to loose 48 more lbs so I look forward to participating on Spark People and learning all that I can to help me achieve my goal!

My husband & I are patiently (or not so patiently) waiting to adopt a child from China. We are hoping to receive our referral this summer and travel late this year or early next year. The length of our adoption process has significantly grown since we started back in 2006. There were many emotional days and Im sure there are a lot more to come in the next few months. I am looking forward to being a healthy, energetic Mom/Wife so I can live a long happy life with my soon-to-be daughter and wonderful husband!!

Smiles! :o)

Hi! I'm a journalist and I have a really stressful job with long hours. I joined this programme for some support to start exercising, eating better and sleeping more, in the hope that the stress won't make me sick :-S I'm 5'8" and 137lbs but really unfit and I eat terrrribly. So my goal weight is 125lbs, and to be fitter, sleep more, eat a bit better, and feel better.
