Welcome SUNBEAMJANEAL! Are there any other groups in your area? I did face to face meetings and then I had quite a schedule change so I do online meetings which I love. There are quite a few options out there.
I measure success in small steps in what I can do today to get closer to the long term success. Success is different to each person. For example, there are days when I am happy and feel that I successfully used my Nutrition Log even though I may have overate.

Welcome to OA and to the team!

I'm sorry that your first meeting seemed a little stale. I think that happens sometimes. Perhaps you are the life and the vitality that they need?

When I joined, the meeting I went to was also struggling with numbers and low interest. Now, it is a thriving group. Obviously, that is not my doing (or not all of it, lol), but these things ebb and flow, I think. Hang in there, keep going, and keep reading literature.

Picking a food plan is a good start, and then finding another person to whom you can relate. Find someone who has what you want, and ask them to sponsor you, so you can start working the Steps.

Howdy everyone. I went to my first OA meeting last Saturday. I'm just starting out and still kinda fuzzy on how it works. The group I attended only had 3 others there. It felt kinda awkward to me because the other members were just kinda rushing through reading a bunch of stuff out loud and they seemed like they were bored...like it was just rote...without much importance.

I need it to be important. This is my life that I'm fighting for and I need it to be important. From what I gathered online and from the brochures they handed me, I need to have a food plan and a sponsor. Is that right?

For the meal plan, the 301 Plan looks great to me. I have trouble with the idea of "just for today"...so my hubby has been helping me with that.

What suggestions do y'all have for success?
