Thank you for sharing.

I've been there. I understand.

I've heard other OA's say that when the fear and pain of taking that first step is less than the fear and pain staying where we are, is when we act.

May your Higher Power guide you and give you the strength you need to do what you need to do, whatever that may be.

Ironically, I was saying Hello everyone. But, I guess my desperate cries for help in my mind are taking over. I'm listening to OA speakers, I've been praying, bt I'm lost on how to get myself to a meeting and find a sponsor. How to just take that first step- so many excuses in my mind make me choose the unhealthy path. I don't know how to say what i need because I don't know what it is- I just know that I hurt and food is no longer helping.

I have been in O.A. about 8 months. I go to a weekly meeting and have a sponsor. And yes I am working the steps I am working on my Step 4.

I am an intellingent person. I will control my emotions and not let my emotions control me. Everytime I am tempted to use food to satisfy my frustrated desires, build up my enjured ego or dull my senses, I will remember...even though I overeat in private, my excess poundage is there for all the world to see.
I will take off pounds sensibly!

Today I finally joined the oe group. Over 50 years I have been in a constant swing between overeating and dieting. Only recently, after reading Russell Brand's book, called recovery, I realised that my overeating was an addiction, acquired in the very early years of my childhood. Unless I deal with this addiction first, I will never be able to properly go on a diet. I have to work on the foundation, which is my mindset. I like the idea of following the 12 steps. There is a path, a straight line to follow, and there is order.
I want to conclude with the following question: is anyone following the 12 steps to recovery? Thank you and I'm glad to be here. Let's see where that leads us.
